April 9, 200817 yr It's rare for 90k to get you #1 I'm sure, most of the time it's 100k+. I've certainly only seen sales that low a couple of times.
April 9, 200817 yr iTunes track updates: Bleeding Love #2 & #24 Better In Time #15 I Will Be #62 Yesterday #72 You Bring Me Down #106 She hasn't performed 'I Will Be', 'Yesterday' or 'You Bring Me Down' on TV has she? I'm just surprised that they've all entered and 'Take A Bow', 'Misses Glass' and 'Forgive Me' haven't as I think those would have been more US friendly.
April 9, 200817 yr Correct Andre, no.1 albums of less than 100k are rare, and really happen after loads of big artists have released albums and others have waited til they died down before releasing and then it happens! Take Alicia Keys going back to no.1 in January for 2 weeks, selling like 60K each week and bloody Juno, lol!
April 9, 200817 yr Clive Davis has another winner and he has Simon Cowell to thank. Leona Lewis, who catapulted to fame in her native U.K. after winning that country’s televised X Factor talent competition launched by Idol Cowell, will debut at #1 on next week’s HITS Album Sales chart with her debut Spirit, edging near 200k, though the final total will probably closer to 190k. Go Leona :D
April 9, 200817 yr Now I wonder when the last time a British female did that was? :P Actually when was the last time anyone British did that...
April 9, 200817 yr Yes :). Altho other british females have gotten #1 like weeks after their release.
April 9, 200817 yr Yes :). Altho other british females have gotten #1 like weeks after their release. Excellent! More records being broken along the way. :funky:
April 9, 200817 yr I know they seem certain about it, but I'm not going to start celebrating yet. How close is the #2 album or didn't it say?
April 9, 200817 yr Yes :). Altho other british females have gotten #1 like weeks after their release. Do you know who? I can only think of Olivia Newton John who is technically Australian.
April 9, 200817 yr Do you know who? I can only think of Olivia Newton John who is technically Australian. I've been looking on Wikipedia and I can't find any other UK female artists, but I may have skipped over some. The closest I found was Olivia Newton-John. Well, I found Sade, but that's a band apparently. So I think Leona might be the first if she makes it. Edited April 9, 200817 yr by Adi_Gallia

Yup that's what I've found out, Olivia is technically Australian and Sade are a band so it appears Leona will be the only British female to ever reach #1 on the US albums chart.
