I thinkwe're never ever gonna wineurovision ever again due to political voting ect.

but there's no harm in saying who should go to eurovision

IMO it would be good to send the spice girls to eurovision (not this year obviously because of the tour)

or alternatively maybe send someone like take that or beverly knight

what do you think?

obviously we should send someone like Take That, Leona or Mika who are already successful in Europe but it would harm their career if they were to finish low so they would never enter. They certainly would not enter Making Your Mind Up, perhaps if it was an internal selection it would be different.

I see this year being no different to the last few...6 below par flopstars/unknowns fighting it out with novelty/average songs sent to represent the UK on a world stage...

Read the pinned thread FFS, there's no such thing as POLITICAL voting :manson: Since when did drunk people (which I'm sure the majority of Europeans watching are on Eurovision night...) vote on the basis of a war, they don't vote for people to lose, they vote for people to WIN, and we haven't sent a song that deserved to do well since 2002...ironic that, isn't it?

Anyway, on topic, I think we should send Kylie or Leona. We'd almost certainly do well, but it'll never happen because the BBC won't ever bother pulling their finger out for Eurovision seeing as it's far more profitable for them if we don't do well (easy ratings with little expenditure - you can't exactly say they spent much on Scooch...), which is why Eurovision rights should go to ITV :(

I think had with sent Liz McClarnon (bias there lol) or Cyndi we would have done alot better than Scooch managed.

I deffinitly think we need to send a female solo artist this year, as they seam to do alot better generaly.

So it's just coincidence that ALL the former Yugoslav countries gave their 12s to Serbia last year?

send cascada to do it

Cascada are German ;) While they can enter for us, if they even did consider entering Eurovision it would probably be for Germany...

Given that all of the countries in Europe save Ireland and the UK voted for Serbia I think it may be more to do with the song than the fact they were neighbours  Especially given that it's an ethnic ballad representative of the type of music popular in the region. And aren't we forgetting that just over a decade ago these countries were all locked in a bitter war with Serbia? :P

Natalie's British though...it would be hilarious to see them appear in the national selection...if enough chavs were watching they'd sail through

then explain why finland, denmark, sweeden, norway and iceland constantly exchange high marks since ages ago

we'llnever win because our only friends are ireland and Malta

DON'T DENY IT

:manson: It was only ten years since we won you know. And a whole SIX since we came third. The whole "friends" debate was still going back then. Oh and not to mention the fact we've finished second and third in the Junior version of the Contest in 2003 and 2004...

Even if it was true, and to me that's a chuffing huge IF, it doesn't matter - maybe we should start 'playing the game' if we want to do well.

We never vote politically - last year we gave points to Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Lithuania. I think out of those, only Germany could be considered close, or a "friend" (and that, also, is questionable). Maybe instead of bitching about everyone else voting politically, we should do it and give points to Ireland, Belgium, France, Denmark, Spain etc etc. Not even the Big Four stick together. I don't really believe in political voting, but for those who are convinced it takes place: if you can't beat em, join em and PLAY THE GAME!!

That said, our "friends" still wouldn't vote for us because the songs we send are so horrifically awful that "aww they have us 10 points last year" just isn't a good enough reason to give our $h!t 12 points.

In the past 15 years, Finland Sweden Denmark and Norway have all won the Contest, so I'd be willing to bet that more than their neighbours voted for them all ;) AND, Ireland has won the most out of anyone, and they don't have ANY neighbours except sort of us!!
