February 17, 200817 yr I'd love to know how Jenny reacts to that tomorrow. And with them playing Inter Milan - who are 11 points clear in Serie A - Benitez will be lucky if he's still the manager of Liverpool on March 1st.
February 17, 200817 yr Liverpool struggle against Havant & Waterloovile, get spanked by Barnsely in stoppage time :kink: and now have to beat Inter Milan who lead Serie A having not lost a league game this season  Adios Benitez! Not forgetting having to go to a replay against Luton.
February 18, 200817 yr Is good to see more teams from the Premier League progressing to the latter stages on the FA Cup. I think Middlesbrough might actually win the FA Cup now... Liverpool's loss to Barnsley must surely spell the end of Rafa Benitez at Liverpool FC now. Just about everyone's calling his head today and while although Liverpool missed an apparent large amount of sitters, Rafa still picked the side. I hope a lot of the players go with him too. There'll be a lot in the media about Benitez and his future at Liverpool, but nothing should be dis-credited from Barnsley. Well done to them for winning. Storm in a teacup over Benitez. It's really a none issue leaving the FA Cup. The league situation is more critical however and if that doesn't improve can seen some changes if and when Liverpool are out of the Champions League.
February 18, 200817 yr Liverpool are CL specialists don't bet against them pulling off a draw or even a win against Milan

The league situation is more critical however and if that doesn't improve can seen some changes if and when Liverpool are out of the Champions League. I don't think there'd be so much fuss over Liverpool going out against Barnsley in the 3rd round compared to now. But it's the fact this was the best chance to win a cup. On paper we had possibly the easiest ties and at this current stage there are barely any Premiership teams left. Benitez just doesn't have a clue how to play domestic football and I honestly don't think he has a clue what Liverpool's best XI is either.
February 18, 200817 yr Who is there to replace him ? Its all the well people saying Rafa out but who could come in who is available and accepted by the fans who could do a better job ? Mourinho would never win the fans over and the yanks are hated enough as it is so would want a popular manager, the likes of Jol, Redknapp, Allardyce are not good enough for that level, the very top CL managers are already employed by clubs, Klinsmann has gone to Bayern so who is there that could come in and do a better job than Rafa ? no one comes to mind
February 18, 200817 yr  I have a mate who reckons Liverpool r the greatest team in the world and this just made my weekend. :yahoo:
February 18, 200817 yr Liverpool are CL specialists don't bet against them pulling off a draw or even a win against Milan usually I'd agree but there are problems far deeper than previous seasons with all the unrest with the Americans, and the poor performances on all fronts recently.
February 18, 200817 yr Liverpool are CL specialists don't bet against them pulling off a draw or even a win against Milan Inter must be quaking in their boots at the prospect of facing the likes of Kuyt, Kewell, Pennant, Benayoun, Abeloa, Aurelio and Hyypia, eh?
February 18, 200817 yr Inter must be quaking in their boots at the prospect of facing the likes of Kuyt, Kewell, Pennant, Benayoun, Abeloa, Aurelio and Hyypia, eh? Who would have given Liverpool a hope against Milan couple of years back in the final ? who would have given whatever British team won away at the Nou Camp a year or maybe 2 years ago back a chance ? no one I can see the game being a draw or Liverpool win
February 18, 200817 yr I can see the game being a draw or Liverpool win I just feel that's unlikely as a Slavia Prague 6-0 win at the moment. Morale is pretty darned low at Anfield.
February 18, 200817 yr I just feel that's unlikely as a Slavia Prague 6-0 win at the moment. Morale is pretty darned low at Anfield. They are CL specialists Matt, this is the competition they seem to give most priority to over a season, after the humilliation across the globe against Barnsley they will be more motivated than ever to get something out of this game I have £20 riding on there not being an Inter win ;) I am either going to look a prize tit or a genius in a couple of days on here :P Edited February 18, 200817 yr by Vic Vega

Just look at Harry Redknapp with the Saints and Pompey. There's loads of managers, it's just a case of finding one that suit the owners aim. I'm not confident about Liverpool winning, but they won't do bad (I hope not anyway). Liverpool's whole season is based on the Champions League and Benitez is very good tactically in the Champions League and they relish being the underdogs - Milan, Barca, Juve, Chelsea? All good victories, and who knows, maybe the same might happen tomorrow against all the odds.
February 18, 200817 yr Liverpool are CL specialists don't bet against them pulling off a draw or even a win against Milan I doubt Milan - 11 points clear at the top of Serie A - will have problems with a club who: -> Have to go to a replay to beat Luton. -> Struggle against non-league Havant and Waterlooville. -> Lose to Barnsley. Scouse Jenny isn't given them much of a chance either. And when a Liverpool supporter doubts their team…
February 19, 200817 yr Liverpool are CL specialists don't bet against them pulling off a draw or even a win against Milan ;)
February 19, 200817 yr Congrats. But don't you think it was more down to the referee than Liverpool? Absolute rubbish. Liverpool were the dominant side until Materrazzi was sent off. (Personally if i was a referee I would look to send off the Italian defender for his racist abuse of the legendary Zinedine Zidane in the World Cup Final when Zizou responded by (rightly in my view) headbutting him for his racist remarks, but that's another matter.) After the sending off Inter were much harder to break down as it was clear that they were playing for a Nil-Nil draw. So I have to totally disagree with your viewpoint. Whilst the same referee missed as clear a handball you could wish to see tonight that should have resulted in a penalty being given to Liverpool. On the overall play, possession, corners, shots on goal, tactics, etc.. tonight we deserved to come away with a Two goal margin of victory, and that is exactly what has happened.
February 19, 200817 yr Congrats. But don't you think it was more down to the referee than Liverpool? it was ^_^ he sent Materazzi off for a little knock on the knees and a silly little pull on the shirt. A lot of free kicks went their way in the first half too. Following all that it forced Inter to sit back and hold tight for the rest of the game. Had Materazzi been on the pitch still Inter would have got far more opportunities and Ibrahimovic would have got a couple of good chances. it was almost like he was trying to make amends for Inter in the 2nd half when the most blatant of blatant penalties came along.
February 19, 200817 yr It's not rubbish at all. Granted you were easily the better side but Inter were slowly getting into the game and you'd not created any real chances. You created many more when he was sent off though and had their game plan ruined and once they were down to 10 men any chance they'd got of a result was almost wiped out. They defended incredibly well having to try and play for a 0-0. And yes you should've had a penalty, but that was no where near as bad as the decision the ref made earlier in the match. You ask any Inter fan and I'm sure they'd rather have given away the penalty... He probably only didn't give it because he was aware of how much of an awful homer he'd been in the first half and wanted to make up for it. In the end it could quite easily have been four. You deserved to win, but it should be entirely on merit, which it won't be if you go through. Although I don't particularly like Liverpool I'd like all the British sides to have success in Europe but not through cheating or incompetant refs, Christiano Ronaldo would've been proud of Torres tonight. February 19, 200817 yr does it mean with Materazzi suspended now :kink: that Inter Milan will field a completely non Italian team ^_^. And we thought Arsenic were bad
