February 18, 200817 yr Can't wait for this album - if it's as genre-defining and brilliant as the first two albums - 2008 already has its album of the year for me.... Excellent interview with the band in yesterday's Observer Music Monthly (which seems to be the only music magazine worth getting these days - excellent read, always). For anyone who hasn't already - check out Beth Gibbons' awesome album with Rustin Man, Out of Season - it's beautiful - easily as good as Portishead.
February 18, 200817 yr OMG! I had actually given up hope of a new album! They are total legends, and I am very excited about this.
February 19, 200817 yr The Observer interview mentions how absolutely amazing the album is - first few tracks are what we'd expect, then it goes off into new, dark territory - the interview isn't online quite yet, but keep checking this link for updates: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm
March 3, 200817 yr For anyone who hasn't already - check out Beth Gibbons' awesome album with Rustin Man, Out of Season - it's beautiful - easily as good as Portishead. never got round to getting a copy of that - whats its like tho?? is it like Portishead or more like Talk Talk (the more pastoral avantguard jazz version not 80s synth-pop) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/bd/Laughing_stock.jpg
March 3, 200817 yr it's Talk Talk at their most miserable and interesting - with the voice of Portishead - it's a stunning piece of work, well worth checking out.

March 3, 200817 yr Author Great! They're legendary: I expect a legendary third album Oh dear. Someone had to do it. :P
March 5, 200817 yr i would guess they sound like an avant-guard blue nile thats not located in a late-nite rain-soaked glasgow but somewhere in the english countryside - even tho this might be going to near to nick drake and xtc. the later Talk Talk albums - each and every one is a classic, start to finish... your description's pretty spot-on, too. Plus, they're worth getting if only for the gorgeous artwork :P . I've not heard Hollis's solo material, though, but I've heard it's great, too.
March 8, 200817 yr the later Talk Talk albums - each and every one is a classic, start to finish... your description's pretty spot-on, too. Plus, they're worth getting if only for the gorgeous artwork :P . well in that case think i might get those later ones (the ones that are not too synthpoppy*)   *tho The The is supposed to be synthpop as well?!?!?
March 11, 200817 yr i'm going to be a good person and wait to actually buy it. no leaks for me thanks, i'm not big on vegetables anyways. i download too much stuff these days, i miss that brief moment of excitment when you pick up that new CD of the shelf...this will be a first for me where Portishead are concerned anyways. looking forward to it
March 11, 200817 yr 2008 already has its album of the year for me.... Well, for me it'll be a toss up between this, or the even MORE ridiculously-long-awaited-third-album from the equally genre-defining My Bloody Valentine... Assuming the buggers manage to actually release the damn thing at all this year of course....Â
March 11, 200817 yr I thought the blue 'P3' pic on the initial pic was a home-made jobby... but... that's the actual cover. :o  Foul!
