March 14, 200817 yr Fernerbahce are hardly an 'easy' side  Imo it was a coincidence and people should stop trying to find holes and thinking everything about football is corrupt  The whole world isn't italian you know!

I dunno. I doubt this is true but it makes you think. If bets were stops them it means a large amount of people were predicting the outcome of the draw (the thread delves deeper into everything) and the bookmakers eventually stopped taking bets. Personally I think UEFA have something against the English teams (FIFA too). The whole fiasco when Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005 which ended with 5 teams in the Champions League - Everton got Villareal too (strongest team they could get), yes it could just be a coincidence, but it makes you think!
April 8, 200817 yr Author Currently Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal, amazing game im pretty much glued to my screen :o Chelsea also lead Fenerbache 1-0 which is enough to send them through
April 8, 200817 yr What a game! I'm trying to do Uni work for tomorrow and I just can't because of this!
April 8, 200817 yr An amazing first half. Arsenal were so far on top it was not true until Hyppia's header went in after 30 minutes. Then towards the end of the half it was all Liverpool. A very watchable first half. It is a cliche but this match really could go anyway, or go to penalties.
April 8, 200817 yr Author WOW! Amazing night and amazing finish, well done Liverpool :o Allthough tbh the penalty was UBER generous Edited April 8, 200817 yr by JamesP
April 8, 200817 yr Such a good football match. I feel for Arsenal though, is never nice to lose a quarter final, especially when you're minutes away from winning it. All Liverpool's goals were very well taken and I thought that was the difference between Liverpool and Arsenal tonight - Liverpool took their chances and Arsenal didn't. Liverpool vs Chelsea again!

Why the hell can't Liverpool play like that in the league? Such a shame that either of these had to go out. Fabulous match! Norma
April 8, 200817 yr Why the hell can't Liverpool play like that in the league? Such a shame that either of these had to go out. Fabulous match! Norma Different sorts of games. Rafa's tactics and policies are all set up for European football, saying that I think the only problem Liverpool have in the league at the moment is the ability to kill off games. I actually thought for patches Liverpool played really quite badly, Gerrard was missing so badly in the centre of midfield until the last 5 minutes or so when he moved central.
April 8, 200817 yr I know I'm biased but that was the match of the season for sheer entertainment. But the actual best movement was Theo Walcott's dazzling run to set up their (at the time) tie winning lead with 7 minutes left. As for the penalty, no question definite penalty. It just was not as definite as the penalty not given in the first leg to Arsenal. :D But what is going on with Lampard & Terry at Chelsea, as they clearly are unhappy with something with their unsporting behaviour after the end of the match (rushing off the pitch at the final whistle instead of staying on to applaud their fans) unless they both have an injury? Still I predict Chelsea will certainly defeat Liverpool in the Semi Finals thanks to some key refereeing decisions going Chelski's way. Put your Russian mafia/oil earnt money on it! What with the final being played in Moscow in a stadia built with money by a certain owner of a certain Stamford Bridge based football club in London. ;) :(

Would have been a match winning run on most other occasions. Aurellio should have made a challange and got a yellow card, but he didn't and if a player runs with real pace against Liverpool's defense than they're going to unlock it. I've seen a lot of debate about the penalties. Both the incidents were penalties, but Toure was all over Babel, he was literally climbing on him. The one in the first leg was a penalty too but i'm not sure why he didn't give it, wrong angle possibly? Or maybe he thought the Arsenal player went down a little too easily, but then it should have been a yellow card.
April 9, 200817 yr Author The one in the first leg was a penalty too but i'm not sure why he didn't give it, wrong angle possibly? Well, Dirk Kuyt and the referee where from the same town and knew each other personally :kink:

April 9, 200817 yr i love the fact that Arsene Wenger spat out his dummy and got all heated in the post match interview. Sore loser much!
April 9, 200817 yr Liverpool vs Chelsea again! Am I the only one who knew that Liverpool and Chelsea would win their ties when the draws for the QFs and SFs were made?
April 9, 200817 yr i did :kink: Liverpool masters in Europe and Chelsea I said had the easiest tie :heehee: Man Utd - Barcelona will be interesting if Schalke and Roma don't spring a surprise and we have an English team in the final for the 4th consecutive year :cheer:
April 10, 200817 yr and we have an English team in the final for the 4th consecutive year :cheer: And just think - before 2005, there wasn't an English side in the Final since 1999. Just a pity It's an awfully good thing that there aren't a lot of English players for them - who knows, we might be having the usual, "we'll win because we won the World Cup in 1966" guff that us Scots living in England have to put up with every other summer. But apart from Arsenal their best and most important players are English :magic: Liverpool would still have Torres, yes but they wouldn't be the same without Carragher and Gerrard. Chelsea And Man United have loads of great English players playing for them too. But saying that Theo is becoming increasingly more important for them now.
