he third Madonna’s studio album was titled True Blue and released in June, 1986. This time Madonna still worked with Stephen Bray and began collaborating with Patrick Leonard. The third album’s songs used to have pop beats as well. But songs of this album were mostly written by Madonna herself, thus she became co-producer of her work. The album was released during the first year of Madonna and American actor Sean Penn’s mutual life. So Madonna dedicated True Blue to her husband, saying he was the “"the coolest guy in the universe”. The album included such hits as "Papa Don't Preach", "True Blue", "Open Your Heart" and others.

The albums cover was shot by photographer Herb Ritts and those picture of Madonna’s profile became one of most recognizable Madonna’s pictures.

Classic album! Thanks for doing a thread on it Gatekeeper!

Hard to believe that this album was criticed upon its release for being bland! Its fantastic, a classic! It sold over 20 million worldwide and spawned 5 international top 5 hits, 4 which made #1 so i guess that showed the pathetic critics who to this day try to write Madonna off!

I love True Blue, apart from White Heat  i don't like the talking bit at the start. One of the worst Madonna songs i think (apart from the hideous Love Song :puke2: which puts me in the same predicament for Like a Prayer - Perfect album apart from one song) If thoses tracks weren't on those albums they would both be absolutely perfect!
