November 19, 200915 yr Bodyrockers was on my shortlist for the tracklist but removed in the final cull...iio wasn't quite big enough I guess maybe a Daft Punk track should replace Release Me...they had a huge impact in 2000/1 and Discovery keeps popping up in Best Of the decade album lists. One More Time perhaps!?! I always assumed Bodyrockers had the biggest Dance hits of the decade, never realised it was only a #3 and (being 2005) I doubt it sold a great deal, despite that huge run. I think it's one people remember a few years down the line, coming from someone who didn't listen to the charts for most of this decade. "One More Time" would definitely be the best choice of Daft Pink song, but what do you mean iio wasn't big enough?! It's been covered by Bananarama! :kink:
November 20, 200915 yr nobody gets two songs :smoke: it's all about picking the most important song from each artist although Nelly Furtado has two, although I see Broken Strings as more of a James Morrison song myself  Well then I will say I agree fully with you choosing 'Toxic'. But I still say Christina's should be 'beautiful', not only was it a HUGE hit, it had a large cultural impact for the gay community. Edited November 20, 200915 yr by Tyler
November 20, 200915 yr Beautiful has definitely had a bigger cultural impact than Dirrty, which was just Christina redefining herself for that album campaign...Beautiful is the more universally appreciated track of the two I'd say.
November 20, 200915 yr Oh, and much as I despise it now thanks to overplay, One More Time really ought to be on there.
November 20, 200915 yr Author switched Dirrty for Beautiful, I agree with the comments made not switching Toxic for Oops...though currently have 105 song shortlist, am determined to make it 100 though so will have to chuck some off
November 20, 200915 yr Author I've deleted it already, it's no longer part of my 105...shoved Cheryl onto disc 5 instead of the urban disc and put Gold Digger (which I forgot about :drama:) on disc 3
November 20, 200915 yr I think All Rise was a relatively worthy inclusion to be honest. Granted it's not a hit on the same level as Fight For This Love or anything. But Blue were an almost ever-present force in UK pop for a good 4 years throughout the decade, popping up in the top 10 ever couple of months at least. And although I'm no fan, I'd say they're worthy of representation somewhere.
November 21, 200915 yr Well then I will say I agree fully with you choosing 'Toxic'. But I still say Christina's should be 'beautiful', not only was it a HUGE hit, it had a large cultural impact for the gay community. Not just the gay community! I remember just being in the car when some young girl came on the radio to request it saying she used to sing it in her head whenever she was bullied. I think that's wonderful and the song definitely deserves a place as one of the decade's defining songs if it can evoke such a response in people.

And although I'm no fan, I'd say they're worthy of representation somewhere. which is why I'd included it in the first place... then again there's no Busted or McFly on my compilation and both were big acts...there just isn't enough room in 100 songs
November 21, 200915 yr Thing is, were Blue even THAT big? I know they had a few number ones, but in a few years I doubt people will look back and see JLS as a massive phenomenon, will they?
November 21, 200915 yr Author ok, final question before I burn off my final tracklisting, which is now 105 songs, seeing as I realised I could fit 21 on each disc; do either or both of these deserve a place on the album/are they classic enough? Mis-Teeq - Scandalous Jamelia - Superstar
November 21, 200915 yr Superstar was ALL OVER the radio for about a year. I'd put that in. Scandalous I remember, but it's not such an obvious one... Superstar definitely :o
November 21, 200915 yr Author yeah I think it needs to be on there too... I won't add Scandalous though

December 5, 200915 yr Great list overall, but I have to say I think you're a little too strict on having just one song by each artist. For instance, I definitely think Black Eyed Peas should be on there with both Where Is The Love and I Gotta Feeling, maybe even Boom Boom Pow too.
December 5, 200915 yr Author loads of artists have 2 or more defining tracks though - I could easily put Use Somebody on there as well as Sex On Fire and Just Dance as well as Poker Face, but I'd end up with only about 50 artists on there overall if I did that  I'm quite happy just having the most impacting song from each artist on there, makes it a more enjoyable listen than hearing the same act over and over
December 8, 200915 yr I know mine is a bit late. But I was thinking of what the NOW Spin-off track listings would be like for the 00s album and I came up with this 01: Britney Spears - Oops!... I Did It Again 02: Kylie Minogue - Spinning Around 03: Anastacia - I'm Outta Love 04: Destiny's Child - Independent Women Part 1 05: Melanie C feat. December 9, 200915 yr Author there's no way they'd include Sum 41 on there, and they might go with Naive for The Kooks if they did include them seeing as that song never made a proper Now (:() I expect they'd put About You Now by Sugababes too. Junior Senior and Dido seem unlikely too. Other than that it's a great, highly believable tracklisting :D

Junior Senior and Dido seem unlikely too. Other than that it's a great, highly believable tracklisting :D Thank You :) Sum 41 were on Now 51, so they could make it. It's a great 00s rock anthem. Dido didn't make any now album (apart from 49) so this would be a better time then any to include her. I think the "Angels With Dirty Faces" era was a lot better than any of the Sugababes other attempts, plus "Freak Like Me" was their first UK number 1. I can't really defend myself for The Kooks & Junior Senior
