As for the song, I really adore it. Granted, it's no 'A&E', I think that will always remain my favourite song they ever do and I'm sure in a couple of years time I'll be saying it's one of my favourite songs ever by anyone, but I still think it's fabby! It manages to have a kind of 'Supernature' flavour to it yet still manages to sound nothing like anything on it.

Of their four albums, this is possibly the one I like least, I've not really been able to get into it properly yet, I find it lacks something... But whilst I don't rate it as highly as their first three albums it's still good and a fourth good (7/10+) album pretty much cements their place in my top 5 acts of all time.

There are several avaliable russ - just search on youtube :D

Thanks mate, a bit of searching and I've just watched it. OK, there's not enough Alison in the clip, but it's a happy, funny, quirky video - a bit like a cross between Blur's 'Parklife' and Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet'.

The single mix is slightly different to the album version, too, it sounds a little more clipped and punchy. I think all the nay-sayers should play this a few times and then say it's not catchy.... I think it's the most memorable single the band have released in ages....

Yeah, it is a bit like Parklife and Its Oh So Quiet. Different from what I was thinking it would be though - I was expecting something pastoral like the music, maybe in the vein of I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing - where a group of people come together on a hilltop at sunrise or something....

Amazing song still though - even if the single mix mutes the recorders (or flutes) a tad at the end.

Big jump for Happiness on Itunes, still not doing great tough :(.

[99] 74| Goldfrapp - Happiness.

this was on the radio when i was in the car with a brother on the way to see a film - he thought it was $h!te and as it was on radcliffe & macconie told me off as i shouldnt be listening to old folks radio* - so he turned it off and found something that he liked on another radio station - the blow monkeys - which he "hadnt heard in years" - i think there is some irony there that alanis morrisette might like

*tho my mum and dad listen to smooth

maybe try an ejector seat in the car? As they say... you can choose your friends.... :P

well done to goldfrapp yesterday on jules Hollandxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
They sang Caravan Girl and A&E but not Happiness? Perhaps they realised what the releases from the album should've been. :P A&E was fabulous, I thought Alison struggled a tad during Caravan Girl.
yea, they done Happiness as well - although, she was off-key - first time in Goldfrapp's career I've ever heard her sing badly live.
Ah, I must have missed the start of the show then. She did look rather stunning though! My dad said 'wtf is she wearing?!' :heehee:
They did Happiness and A&E on Tuesday, I thought they were good, by far the best guests!

Well when the next biggest act on Later this week was the awful Kooks (they give the Indie genre a bad name ffs), then that was not difficult.

However I agree with Russ, that was the poorest Alison Goldfrapp vocal performance that I have seen, when they opened with Happiness.

Still she was better on Caravan Girl & sublime on A&E.

Plus am I the only one alarmed that she looked like Geri Halliwell's older more attractive sister on the show?

Here are the Live performances now up on Youtube..................

Happiness (Live on Later Apr 08)

Caravan Girl (Live on Later Apr 08)

A&E (Live on Later Apr 08)

Alison's looking fine for her age, I think.... what is she now? Early 40s? Stunning...
Somehow after not charting in the top 75 on downloads Happiness is apparently in top 20 in the midweeks!
