2. Monster Love - Goldfrapp vs. Spiritualized sounds intriuging though....

and isnt the new album from Spiritualized called songs in A&E

I have done some digging around the net, and the video is rumoured to be premiering soon - but its very late if the single is out on the 14th April. No word from the Official Site, and nothing on HMV yet.

I'm waiting for Happiness music video

Maybe it will be in the same style as A&E

hmm...the Metronomy mix is far removed from a classic Goldfrapp remix.... it sounds out of sync and a bit off-key to me.
 Wtf.

Just because you don't like it Jark, it doesn't mean that others don't....

Where did that come from? The song is completely not the sort of thing Radio 1 ever give major play to. It's picking reminds me of Alicia Keys' poor choice of single which was so sedate that it was never going to get much play.
love this song!! hope it does well unlike A&E :(

Artist Info

Alison Goldfrapp first gained notoriety for her astonishing vocal work on albums by Tricky and techno duo Orbital. She joined forces with composer Will Gregory in the late 1990s to create her own moody, sensual version of contemporary electronica. With a succession of critically lauded albums, the duo honed their approach and utilised an assortment of influences ranging from traditional soundtrack themes and vintage pop to '80s synth sounds, disco, and glam rock to create one of the most intriguing and satisfying electronica hybrids to emerge from the genre since its inception.

track listing

1. Happiness [beyond The Wizards Sleeve re-animation]

2. Monster Love [Goldfrapp Vs Spiritualized]

3. Eat Yourself [Yeasayer remix]

:o

The video's out too now! I've only heard the song a couple of times, but I can't remember what this song sounds like at all, which barely ever happens when I hear new tracks! Unless they do some serious promo in the next 2 weeks this is going to flop really badly.

My Mother is a casual Goldfrapp fan and not really into music at all so she's a pretty good gauge of the 'casual' fan's approach to their music. She loved everything from 'Supernature', loved 'A&E' but hates 'Happiness'. She commented earlier today that she found the track "boring and the vocal terrible".

Her comments don't seem to be much kilter off given how this song is doing chart-wise. Mute need to buckle up and stop f'ing this project up.

How can you blame Mute for Joe Public not 'getting' an album?

If your Mum loves Supernature, it's almost a given that she wouldn't 'get' Seventh Tree - Supernature is the most uber-commercial album Goldfrapp have ever, and hopefully will ever, make.

To call Happiness 'boring' is absurd - it's a great, great single - and how do we know what Happiness will do 'chart-wise' yet?

Well we can tell because it is on the A-list on Radio 1 - ie. getting some major airplay - and yet somehow not even on the iTunes top 120. That's gotta be some sort of record!

And it IS boring. It's just a dull song; as people like jake and Rooney have commented in this thread, to the non-fan, the casual listener who Goldfrapp are relying on for sales, the song is just dull - they won't want to wait for 20 listens before it grows on them!

Well, as a Goldfrapp fan, I got Happiness instantly and adore the track.

If it flops (and it could well do), it will be because of the lack of promo, late video release and rush release of the single.

So how do any of those factors help explain that even with heavy rotation on Radio 1, Happiness is not on the iTunes chart? It seems the listening public aren't liking what they hear.

 What a sweeping statement! I suspect that most fans have only just got the track on the album and don't realise it is a single yet...

Either way, I love it, and no-one can make me change my mind :)

Happiness is a nice, safe song, with a brilliant video.
