Posted March 17, 200817 yr All but one game per round in fact. Disgusting, is it not? -_- ITV, BBC, Five and once again Sky will fight it out tomorrow for the "most attractive" game on the Wednesday night of the competition from the 2009/10 season. So it is quite possible that only Sky Sports subscribers will get to watch Champions' League football from next year. -_-
March 18, 200817 yr Hmmm but ITV have got England and the FA Cup now haven't they? Can't have their cake and eat it! I hope the BBC get the "most attractive" game. ^_^
March 18, 200817 yr the BBC said they'd do everything they could to secure the CL. be a sad day for football if the CL is on a subscription channel only. Oh and let the Champions play in the Champions League :kink: not all thse 3rd and 4th placed teams :P
March 18, 200817 yr URGH! We don't get enough CL games as it is on terrestrial :( And no! Keep it to having the four teams! The format is so good so many other sports are trying to copy it now ^_^
March 18, 200817 yr rename it then ^_^ it's hardly the CHAMPIONS league. Go back to the good old European Cup
March 18, 200817 yr Not that fussed tbh, everyone has Sky these days anyways and those that don't can like get it if they make enough sacrifices Sky is the equivalent of 2 packets of cigarettes a week or 3-4 pints of beer
March 18, 200817 yr plus ITV's coverage is awful <_<. You cant deny that Sky Sport's have the best sport's coverage in the world so i'm more than happy there getting most of the games. Even the poorest of the poor can afford sky these days and if you cant just go down the pub to watch it
March 18, 200817 yr The poorest people certainly can't afford Sky! We're not exactly poor but to pay what they ask is ridiculous just so you can watch a few more sporting events each month! I do hope the BBC get the most attractive game, as ITV have got the stuff they showed. Atleast they haven't got MOTD though...
March 18, 200817 yr Sky aren't the best for sport :puke: The amount of bias in their commentary sometimes is disgusting it makes me mute it, and switch the radio on instead.
March 18, 200817 yr BBC are ALWAYS the best for football coverage! Nothing beats Lineker or Charles with Hansen and Lawro :D
March 18, 200817 yr Author John Motson and Mark Lawrenson are the most nausiating (sp?) people in football commentary. :manson: Give me ITV's coverage over the BBC's any day for that reason alone... And the BBC spending £400m of tax payers' money on these few games is a complete pisstake, it'll be more than Sky have paid for the seven out of eight games they're getting per matchday - £240m.

But it's something a large majority of people want to watch, and they'll need some football to fill the gap left by England and the FA Cup. Would be a good purchase if they get the rights to the game!

Yeah I agree, it's hardly fair on the people who don't own/watch Sky not being able to see their fave club in the Champions League is it. I think with Sky already having all of the Premiership games it's only fair that ITV and BBC get the majority (if not all) of the Cup/Champions League games.
March 18, 200817 yr I think with Sky already having all of the Premiership games. they don't :P They have 92 games and Setanta have 50
March 19, 200817 yr Author But it's something a large majority of people want to watch, and they'll need some football to fill the gap left by England and the FA Cup. Would be a good purchase if they get the rights to the game! Certainly not worth £400m though Renneth. ITV are paying about half of that price for a bigger bundle currently.
March 19, 200817 yr Where does it actually say anything about £400m? And are you sure it's per year as opposed the whole contract?
March 19, 200817 yr Author Where does it actually say anything about £400m? And are you sure it's per year as opposed the whole contract? £400m was quoted on the Guardian site I believeee. That was a couple of weeks ago though, we'll find out exactly how much has been spent tomorrow I think. And I think the price is for the three year (?) contract.
March 19, 200817 yr Oh and let the Champions play in the Champions League :kink: not all thse 3rd and 4th placed teams :P Let's face it - they'll get more money by having teams like Chelsea, Barcelona and AS Roma in the Group stage then by having Wisla Krakow, Partizan Belgrade and Young Boys. That's why they have 3rd and 4th placed teams (those first teams I mentioned aren't top of their Leagues whereas the second lot are).
March 19, 200817 yr they don't :P They have 92 games and Setanta have 50 Meh you know what I ment. :P
March 20, 200817 yr Author ITV are expected to win this final game now, following the network's decision to drop their F1 rights.
