Posted March 21, 200817 yr The following is from the BBC teletext... "Teenage soul singer Adele has signed a deal to release her debut album '19' in th eUS through Columbia Records. In a joint venture with XL Recordings - Adele's worldwide label - the 19-year-old's album will be released in the US this summer. The album went straight to the top of the UK chart when it was rleeased in January, while her single, Chasing Pavements, reached number 2. The singer is currently in the middle of a short north American tour." What are your thoughts about this???
March 21, 200817 yr its hard top know adele may do well in america i wudnt be surprised if she has a hit there i think she has a better chance than duffy
March 21, 200817 yr Author its hard top know adele may do well in america i wudnt be surprised if she has a hit there i think she has a better chance than duffy Really?? You see i think Duffy has a better chance although I do think Adele is a little more commercial than Duffy! So you could be right!
March 21, 200817 yr i could be very wrong its just i cant stand duffy but that prob means she will be huge in america usually who i dont like make it big in america
March 21, 200817 yr i dont think either will have HUGE success, maybe minor here and there... I have a feel both will end up becoming VH1 "you oughta know" artists, although i do think mercy could do amazing here maybe with an awesome remix (with no rapper please!)
March 21, 200817 yr Kanye West did comment on Adele's Chasing Pavements. So there is some hope there :)
March 21, 200817 yr Duffy has much a greater chance of success there, but if they throw money at Adele she could do alright.
March 24, 200817 yr Hometown Glory was a free iTunes song one week in February and seemed quite popular. Then again, so was Sandi Thom last year and she never went anywhere here.
March 24, 200817 yr Author Hometown Glory was a free iTunes song one week in February and seemed quite popular. Then again, so was Sandi Thom last year and she never went anywhere here. She didnt get very far over here too! lol She had a single 'What If Im Right' (I personally  it lol) but that didnt do half as well as I iwsh i was a punk rocker! lol
March 24, 200817 yr I think Adele could do much better then Duffy in the US because she is more commerical But then again, I didn't think Amy Winehouse would do well over in the states, and she has won a couple of grammys now.
March 25, 200817 yr Author I think Adele could do much better then Duffy in the US because she is more commerical But then again, I didn't think Amy Winehouse would do well over in the states, and she has won a couple of grammys now. A COUPLE?? She won a shelf full! lol
March 25, 200817 yr A COUPLE?? She won a shelf full! lol Yeah I know, She won five didn't she? Nominated for six, and won five?
March 25, 200817 yr Hmmm I don't think her music is right for the US. Her only chance of getting success is if one of her songs is used on a show in the US that gets large ratings say Grey's Anatomy or CSI personally, but y'never know. As others have said I think Duffy has a much better chance of doing well in the US.
March 25, 200817 yr Author Yeah I know, She won five didn't she? Nominated for six, and won five? I believe so ^_^ lol
March 25, 200817 yr Do Grammy's actually mean much anymore? they seem to give them out like lolipops and goodie bags at kiddies parties.
March 25, 200817 yr Do Grammy's actually mean much anymore? they seem to give them out like lolipops and goodie bags at kiddies parties. I would argue that the Grammys she won are significant... Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, etc. Now some of the more obscure ones probably don't mean much... I think I have a Grammy lying around somewhere for Best Comedic Spoken Word Instrumental Collaboration by a Duo or Group.
