Predictably, Last Shadow Puppets hold onto their no.1 position but theyre under increasing pressure from chart debutants (My bad :( ) Los Campesinos! and last week's fantastic new entry from the Black Kids. At first I was pissed off that 'Sweet Dreams, Sweet Cheeks' had been denied a release in place of 'My Year In Lists' and tbh I still far prefer the former to the latter, but that said 'My Year...' is still a very good song, and is fully deserving of its top 3 place. Number one is unlikely. Last week's new entry wasn't given a formal introduction, so i'll do it now. Black Kids are a new band making their first venture into TOTB, and what a venture it is. 'I'm Not bla bla..' is a cracking record, and currently holds the record for 'Longest-titled song ever to enter my chart'. Tbh, i'd be worried if that record was ever broken. Elsewhere Wombats slip to 4th and Scouting For Girls bag their second consecutive top 5 hit with 'Heartbeat', a song about the band's unformiddable love and admiration for the popular ITV teatime drama set in the Yorkshire dales. Not much to report outside the top 5 in all fairness, legendary tracks 'After Hours' and 'Time To Pretend' see We Are Scientists and MGMT respectively begin their chart exit, as do Mystery Jets who suffer a 4-place plummet to 9.
