Actually, I have to say I'm in total agreement with this post... It really is about time the Media in this country started acting with a bit more restraint and common sense with regards to criminal trials... I dont particularly like ANY of the players in this particular, sleazy little soap opera (and you all know my feelings about the McCanns...), but frankly, the Press deserve a judicial black eye here. It really does need some Judge, somewhere to have a bit of courage and make the ruling and send out a very firm message to the Tabloid Media in this country, even if it does mean a possibly guilty person gets away with a crime...

Even though the mountains of evidence against her has seen that she was rightly convicted of a heinous & sickening crimes of kidnap, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice. Costing the UK taxpayer £3.2 million.

Yet in stark contrast you were happy to totally condemn the McCanns whom since you've written this post have settled libel cases in their favour against British newspapers to the amount of £475,000.

 

Whilst fellow suspect Robert Murat was awarded £425,000 & the "Tapas 7" were awarded £375,000 in compensation.

 

All because the papers accepted they printed lies & untruths about this whole tragic saga.

 

No doubt like a lot of people you were swayed by the McCann's guilt because of their "stiff upper lip" attitude, whilst if they'd blubbed like a contestant with a sob story on a Simon Cowell money making show you would have been more sympathetic.

 

 

Or more likely you were convinced of their guilt due to Schadenfreude or reverse racism or classism of two Caucasian middle class people.

 

I mean where was yours & the media condemnation of the white teenager who was raped /sexually assaulted by 9 non caucasians in a suburb of London a couple of months ago? I bet you would say the 14 year old caucasian asked for it being raped at knifepoint.

of COURSE im against political correct reporting! but before i can condemn it i have to READ it! and believe it or not, scouring the daily papers for pc inconsistencies isnt very high up on my list of priorities! i dont read the papers because of their bias reporting.

Sometimes I really do think you're an idiot mate.... :rolleyes: I was referring to the sort of highly prejudicial reporting that goes on in these sorts of sensitive trials, which really shouldn't happen, the Press should show restraint and only report a fact when it has been established... Media manipulation of the truth has led to serious miscarrigaes of justice in this country in the past you cannot deny it, one only has to look at the Jill Dando/Barry George affair, at the end of the day, Juries are only human, to expect them to NOT be swayed by sensationalistic reporting in some way is a bit like expecting a Nu Labor Cabinet Minister to admit wrongdoing and resign from office with honour.... :rolleyes:

 

There HAS BEEN no trial with regards to the Maddie McCann affair, because she aint been found dead or alive, therefore how can an actual crime have been said to have taken place.....? Habeas Corpus mate, you should try looking it up sometime.... And I never said the McCanns were guilty of murder (with their being no body and all...), but they ARE guilty of child neglect as far as I'm concerned, leaving kids alone in a hotel room in a foreign country (an established fact by the way...) while they go out and get bladdered IS neglect as far as I'm concerned (and as far as the law of this land is concerned as well), they even had the option of using the resort's child minding service, they didn't.. WHY...? This question has NEVER been adequately answered by these idiots, and the facts are, if they'd've hired a babysitter, their kid wouldn't have been snatched, simple as... :rolleyes: That foolish decision is on THEM mate, so DONT ask me to have sympathy for these c/unts, it aint as if they were short of a few bob for a fukkin' childminder for a few hours..... For a start, I dunno just what the fukk this incident has to do with Shannon Matthews (or even Maddie McCann), but seeing as how you brought it up, I'll answer it....

 

For a start, your post is incredibly misleading, the incident in question took place over 18 months ago in April 2007..... In the second place, I seem to remember it WAS reported in the London press, and it being on BBC London News as well... In the third place, well it's pretty bloody obvious to me why it wasn't widely reported... It happened on a Hackney Estate.... The middle-class MEEEEEDJJJAAAAAAARRRRRRR, by and large, does not give two sh!ts what happens to people in Hackney, Peckham, Wood Green and other similar places, which would be the reason why this article comes a full 18 MONTHS+ after the incident actually occurred, all of a sudden, the press starts growing a conscience (well, mind you, not that big a one of course, I mean, it's an ONLINE article innit? :rolleyes: ).... I'd be willing to bet that if the exact same thing happened in Chelsea, Mayfair or Knightsbridge to some Posh bird (regardless of race), it would be all over the fukkin' press..... And if you think that this is an isolated incident, or that this sort of gang-related group-sex/rape only happens to white girls you really are an idiot.... You know, I can easily point out also, the facts that scores of kids GENUINELY (as in not a faked kidnapping like with Shannon...) go missing in these sorts of neighbourhoods every fukkin' year never to be heard of again (a bit like, well, Maddie McCann actually, many are only 5/6/7 years old....), so, where, exactly is THEIR two million euro fund or press coverage....? The only time you ever hear about any of these kids is when you see posters of them in buses or tubes.... It's as if their lives are worth less because of where they were born and raised....

 

So, dont try and fukkin' tell ME it aint some kind of "class" thing (far more than race, because the press dont seem to care about white estate kids any more than they do black or asian kids..). Because it's bloody obvious that it is..... <_<
