June 28, 200817 yr Didn't they play Left Behind on The Culture Show recently? I was more interested in Lovefoxx's eyelids than the song...
June 29, 200816 yr Is there much promotion for this in the UK at all? Any radio play? Any news of a video?
July 6, 200816 yr Album has leaked. Downloading now... Looking forward to it as i loved the debut and "Left Behind" is excellent.
July 6, 200816 yr Hmmmmmm. The first half is pretty blah tbh. Everything from "Beautiful Song" is AMAZING though :o "How I Became Paranoid" being my favourite by far.
July 15, 200816 yr I've heard this about four times now and would rather listen to everything off their debut... :(
July 20, 200816 yr I've heard this about four times now and would rather listen to everything off their debut... :( Agreed. To me, this album reeks of smugness, and I just can't shake it. Shame.
July 21, 200816 yr See from what I've heard on the playlist at work, I think I prefer Donkey to the last album. Shall get it sometime soon, and play both together and make an overall judgement then.
July 21, 200816 yr So far I think I prefer Donkey to their debut as well. Left Behind, Move, How I Became Paranoid and Jager Yoga are my favourites
July 24, 200816 yr I don't like how this almost got painted with the "second-album-syndrome" before it was even released. I haven't heard much of it so far but what I have heard sounds really good. The main critisism seems to be that the album sounds to slick and polished compared to Cansei De Ser Sexy but DIY production doesn't make a good album and it definately wasn't what made their first album good, it was killer songs with killer hooks. TBH, their first album wasn't even that great, it had about 5 AMAZING songs though and the rest were OK, and there were a couple of c**p ones as well (Alcohol, Art b**ch). It's a shame that this album is going to pass completely under the radar. I really like this quote from a review of Left Behind- The downside with being visionaries is that by the time everyone else has caught up, you've moved on, forever out of step and under appreciated. And so it is that CSS, masters of the throwaway DIY ditty, have become masters of the sly, sexy, slightly psycho, screw-you anthem, just as everyone else is pogoing their way on to the dumb-fun bandwagon.
July 25, 200816 yr Author This album is a pile of c**p. Disappointing. It's just so...boring. Trite lyrics, boring backing. Yes there are a few decent moments ('I Fly', 'Believe Achieve') but CSS in their evolution seem to have musically-retracted. Maligning themselves by removing the idiosyncrasies which made their music such interesting listening. There's nothing wrong with clean production lines but it simply doesn't fit with the zaniness the band are still so keen to project. Half-baked ideas and pastiche in the worst of ways. Gah.
