Gutted about Liverpool. Torres can't come back soon enough. Thank God the Mancs also f***ed up. I'm just wanting Chelsea to slip up tomorrow at West Ham, but i'm not seeing it. :(

Looks like West Brom are down. 4-0 against Sunderland (Who find it difficult to score more than 2 goals past anyone), and we didn't even play that well. The scoreline completely flattered us and was harsh on West Brom who played some good stuff at times. They just can't defend to save their lives
I don't think West Brom are down just yet. Ofc it's not gonna be easy, but they desperately need another striker or two (hopefully Nemeth from Liverpool!). Mowbry might have to denounce his morals and ditch attacking football too and revert to being more defensive, but I doubt it will happen, well, until he inevitably gets sacked.

I disagree. I've said since last week whoever lost today's match will go down. And it's against teams like Sunderland that West Brom should be picking up points if they want any hopes of survival. Their problems run a LOT deeper than just buying a couple of strikers, their defending is atrocious. The fact that we of all teams put 4 past them (Admittedly one was a pen) without ever playing particularly well tells you everything

Agree with you about Mowbray and his style of football though. If he doesn't change it (Which I don't think he will tbh) he will be sacked because while they played some good stuff today, very nice to watch attacking football, they are completely clueless at the back and will continue shipping silly amounts of goals per game

I really like West Brom. The general concencus last year was that they were by far the best footballing team in the Championship but they couldn't defent. Pretty much spot on if you ask me. Mobray's tried to rectify this by replacing their whole defence (bar Robinson) with better players. But Carson, Zuiverloon, Donk, Olson and Meite still haven't been good enough. They also have no one to score goals, and I don't think Phillips would've helped much, he failed in the Prem before he moved to West Brom, he's now two years older he's hardly going to do much better now. Their midfield is excellent though I think, they play good stuff and create chances. I can't see them surviving though, which is a shame as I like them and like Mobray. However if we also lose two of Stoke, Newcastle, West Ham and Blackburn I won't be too fussed!
Same I really like West Brom, and I like the way they play. Makes a lot better viewing than just sticking 10 men behind the ball. I think Mowbray could save them still though, if they buy/loan a few strikers and midfielders then I certainly wouldn't write them off yet. iirc they were the first team ever to survive being bottom of the league at Christmas! Not gonna be easy, but like I say, there are a lot of good young strikers and defenders playing reserve team football at the moment... could be a risk, but lets face it, they need to take one.

Yippee! Wigan won! Shame it had to be at the expense of Blackburn though!

Paul Ince is the latest victim of the ruthless world of management then...

Was a shock he was ever appointed there in the first place.

Guy was totally out of his depth, no doubt there will be cries of racism etc but the guy just couldn't cut it in the premiership

I know a lot is said that the squad that he inherited got to 7th last year, but come on, Paul Robinson in goal? Most of the players were already looking for an early escape route before the season even got going. Gotta feel for the guy. Bad time for the Blackburn vacancy to be open too... as the Sunderland one is a much more attractive proposition at the moment!

Fuck me.. was that a compliment? :o :heehee:

I have to echo what young Roo said, Ince wasn't exactly a great appointment in the first place. Sold 2 key players to play a part in Rovers' 7th-placed finish last season and hasn't done much with the funds. The only surprise to me was that it took them til today to sack Ince

I don't actually think Robinson is a bad goalkeeper, just desperately low on confidence (Like the rest of the squad). Tbh, in front of that back 4 and as low on confidence as they are I don't think it would have mattered if Rovers had signed Buffon to play in goal. They'd still be shipping silly goals

Be interesting to see who they get in, although atm the favourite is Souness. Managers returning for a second spell rarely if ever works, and I can't see Souness being an exception. Others are the usual names (Allardyce, Curbs etc) and Shearer

Surprisingly, Roy Keane is also being linked with the job at Rovers. Would his iron fist style of management work atm with the team morale at rock bottom? It didn't work with us and i'd be surprised if it would work at Rovers

I do like Blackburn though, i've had a bit of a soft spot for them since Hughes left (Can't stand the man), so I hope they stay up. Just depends if they appoint the right man

They've never really offered much to the Premiership in a long while so I'm really not arsed if they go down. We have too many Northern teams working on a restricted budget...

My word, I thought Blackburn wanted a GOOD manager to keep them up :heehee: Oh well the first ever Premier League champions to be relegated then.

And what the hell with Real Madrid and Ronaldo. I'm sorry but if any English club kept claiming interest in say Casillas or whoever, then it would be branded tapping up and FIFA would be all over us.

They've already been relegated! In about 2000 it was!

 oh well, the first PL champions to be relegated....twice

And ooops I edited it in the first time. I better go to bed before I cause a mishap

I completely disagree! Imo it's a job that was doomed to failure in the first place as Hughes took them as far forward as he could so the only was down especially as a lot of their key players had gone. The fact that the players were backing him and he kept hold of the dressing room was evidence that hadn't worked for him. He should have stayed at MK Dons for now but now I say he should get a job at a championship club and get back up again. Anyway you can't say someone 'can't cut it' after 17 bloody games'

Anyway his successor is a pure example of why sometimes it doesn't work the first time and sometimes you need to give someone another chance. I'm referring to the fact that Sam Allardyce was sacked from Blackpool and then looked what happened next? Notts County and Bolton! Then there is Gary Megson and of course the best one of all Phil Brown!

If it was your logic everyone would be going for the safe option of a foreign coach who's got some spanish or italian club into Europe and you should know especially that doesn't always work. :P

Ince will probably do well as a manager in the championship or League 1 but he just doesn't look cut out for premiership
