Posted April 6, 200817 yr The Government's drug advisory body is likely to recommend that cannabis should remain a Class C drug, creating a dilemma for Gordon Brown who has indicated he wants to clamp down on use of the drug. The Prime Minister backed the reclassification of cannabis as a more serious drug - Class B - at a press conference earlier this week. Should cannabis remain a Class C drug? Are you worried that the classification of the drug as class C encourages young people to try it? Or do you think that young people are more influenced by their friends' opinions and the cost of a drug, rather than by its classification? How dangerous is cannabis? Should we be more worried about alcohol Source : Sunday telegraph
April 6, 200817 yr Cannabis should be legalised as should ALL drugs, people are going to take them anyways and far better off them being legally on sale and paying tax to the government than under the control of gangsters and pimps and people committing crime because they fear their legs being broken by their dealer I would legalise all drugs not just cannabis but cocaine, heroin, ecstacy and so on and take the bloody things out of the control of the dealers and bring in life means life tarriffs for anyone caught dealing in drugs or supplying them The money saved on policing and so on and fighting drug related crime could be spent on awareness and education programmes but it is time to cut the pushers, pimps, gangsters and dealers out of the supply chain
April 7, 200817 yr it should be class a. as long as its illegal. its effects when used to access are quite alarming.

April 11, 200817 yr I think Cannabis should be legalized. It's people's own right if they want to use it. A bag never did anybody no harm!

April 11, 200817 yr I would like to say it never did me any harm and it didn't, but I went in high to my exams and failed.

April 11, 200817 yr .............. but who stops at 'a bag'? me :) Cannabis should, of course, be lagalised - I've yet to hear a single argument that convinces me it should be illegal. The joke of it is.... smoking weed's like taping stuff off the telly - it's illegal - but everyone seems to do it. I'd rather our allegedly hard-pushed and overworked judiciary folk get busy with things that really concern us all instead of once again preying on the 'easy-pick' targets because it's getting a little tedious. The bottom line is this - they can de-classify it or re-classify it - but it matters not a jot - the people who smoke it will continue to smoke it, the Daily Mail readers will continue to believe all the faff that's fed to them about the 'extreme effects'. Now if they mentioned de-legalising the drug that's having the most colossal detrimental affect on yours and my life - alcohol - then I'd be all for it. I've yet to feel threatened or at risk from someone smoking a spliff - maybe the louts who pollute our streets after the pubs shut should try it some time - there'd be a whole lot less scrapping and general bother if they did.

April 12, 200817 yr Cannabis should have the same status as alcohol or gambling. End of discussion. If people are dumb enough to overuse it then that is their own stupidity.
April 13, 200817 yr I never knew people were in favour of it being legalised. I guess i shouldn't read the daily mail. It is a really..... well its difficult to say in less than 1000 words but it can be really negative

April 15, 200817 yr Cannabis should have the same status as alcohol or gambling. End of discussion. If people are dumb enough to overuse it then that is their own stupidity. Agreed.. Not to underestimate the possible dangers of Cannabis, but frankly, if you allow a situation that happens just about every weekend in our town and city centres with binge drinking and all the resultant social and health problems that causes, how then, can you seriously talk down to people who like to toke up every now and then and tell them that they're wrong for indulging in their drug of choice....? Answer - you can't.....
April 16, 200817 yr I personally don't use Cannabis myself, and don't ever intend to, but I agree that Cannabis should be legalized. There are many benefits that come with the legalization of Cannabis. It would be better economically, because the government would be able to put tax on the drug, and I'm pretty sure it would reduce crime, even if its by a small percentage. Drug dealers wouldn't take up space in prisons, police wouldn't waste their time searching minors, and overall crime would go down because teens don’t have to go to dangerous measures just to get their hands on it. It would be better for the user, as they know they would be getting clean, pure Cannabis. School children will find it less glamorous, because it's not an illegal thing to do; the same way smoking a normal cigarette becomes trivial after a while. I agree with the above poster and the person they quote. If a person doesn't know when to stop, thats their own problem. Saying that however, the drug itself doesn't have any addictive ingredients, its more of a mental thing.
