It still was a more successful victory that Bokia in BJSC2 and Nonsuch in BJSC8 though.

True, stupid BJSC4 for being so small and messing up the percentages a bit.

Not nescessarily...surely it is evened out by the fact there were less points available?

Actually I think I've forgotten what exactly that statistic shows! I thought it was what percentage of people gave them points - but I think that's wrong isn't it? If it were that, the less people in the final there are the more likely they are to get points. In BJSC IV you had to give points to more countries than you didn't give points to.

It's percentage of total points available. For example in a contest with 22 countries, there are 252 points available (21x12, since you can't vote for yourself).

Seems like a pretty fair way of working out the most successful songs.

As it turns out, the top 2 in this have also gone on to become the two biggest hits from the contest :)

stats thread updated, a couple I don't have the figures for, so could Peter and/or Rich do the kind honour of updating :D

Mdice new No.1 country, Kopecka non-mover at No.2, FSR Rontvia down to No.3...

I have done away with the least successful country stat as the only country to have appeared in all 10 countries now is Kopecka...

Oh ok, well I'm sure there's some explanation as to why it works out being biased but I'm not mathematically gifted enough to think of it right now. I'm sure it's not just a coincidence that the only non-winners in the top 10 are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th places countries from the smallest contest so far.

I think it's something to do with the number of countries we give points to always being 10 while the countries we don't give points to has varied. In BJSC IV you had to give points to 10/19 other entries, so that's just over a 50% chance of receiving at least 1 point whereas in the biggest final of 29 you had to give points to 10/28 of the other countries so that's about 35% chance of getting at least 1 point.

I'm probably over-thinking this and that's wrong too but I'm sure there is an explanation, I'm just not smart enough to find it.

You read my mind! Yes there is one change:

1) FSR Rontiva - Sara Bareilles - Love Song - 43% (BJSC4)

2) Mdiče - Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl - 42.3% (BJSC7)

3) Eledan - t.A.T.u - Gomenasai - 41.3% (BJSC5)

4) Utopia - Pipettes - Pull Shapes - 40.8% (BJSC4)

5) Kingdom of Shadow – Margaret Berger – Will You Remember Me Tomorrow – 39.9% (BJSC9)

6) Kopečka - Stefy - Chelsea - 38.2% (BJSC4)

7) Bhangra - Dixie Chicks - Not Ready to Make Nice - 37.8% (BJSC3)

8) Mdiče – Britney Spears – And Then We Kiss - 37.7% (BJSC1)

9) Frahliso - Serebro - What's Your Problem? - 37.3% (BJSC4)

10) Quotosibb - Beverley Knight - Black Butta - 36.6% (BJSC6)

Is 'Pull Shapes' really the 4th most successful song?! :D I missed this!

I missed the fact that Gomenasai is 3rd  I always thought it's 4th here!

and it could have been the most successful if it wasn't for those pesky Rontvians :w00t:

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm still waiting for the most consecutive DNQ country to be added :P

Unless I actually don't hold that record and someone has five :P

I think you definitely hold that record as the current qualification system has only been around for 5 contests, and I don't think there is anybody who has failed to qualify in all of them!
No change to the top ten songs this month
Rich, Kopecka have less than Mdice :heehee:

fully updated now, not much change in 'the Big 5' with Mdice well ahead of Kopecka now after Janelle's flop...FSR Rontvia moving back to touching distance of Kopecka...Ashton up to 4th, Simondly replace Bhangra...

Nonsuch, Quotosibb and Eledan all between 595 and 600 points total scored in the final now :heehee: another couple of top fives for any of these countries and they will almost certainly join 'the big 5', indeed Nonsuch have certainly been one of the dominating presence's in the 'Post-Untouched BJSC'

You forgot Espen in the countries list ;)

Yeah it looks like Eledan has been the least successful nation out of the old guard as we only scored 598 points in 8 contests :o
