I literally heard the song the day I confirmed it. I think I was going to send Neon Neon or something before I heard the song.

VIII was about the end of the golden years for me too [until today]

 

V and VI remain my favourite contests.

Old BJSC = ew. Though I am a bit NOSTALGIC I suppose.

Ooh the gap between Quotosibb and Ashton is narrowing, don't think we'll catch up soon. I'm feeling a bad run for us is coming soon. (a bit like Eledan)

You totally deserve it though - I don't think Quotosibb get enough recognition as being one of the greatest BJSC nations, definitely up there with Rontvia and Mdice for constant success.

Well I think Lights and Janet Leon will be fairly well remembered too. Plus, that 'one' is probably one of the most remembered overall. Don't think Quotosibb have that many entries that are proper BJSC songs. I'll have to find one in time for the next Best Of. :heehee:

I think Quotosibb, although not necessarily having a defining hit single (though you could call Beverley just that) generally have a high quality of entries consistently which makes you high profile. KoS are quite inconsistent and thus don't quite have the same reputation as being a top nation.

I reckon Black Butta is one of the defining 'BJSC' songs, i.e. songs that few people would know about without the contest but are now standards to the forum...I know Quotosibb like to keep it more safe in order to keep up their qualification record these days (Video Villain was a nice surprise though!) but I look forward to the day when Aaron sends another contest defining song like that...and when he does, FSR Rontvia's 12 points are reserved just for that occasion :kink: Black Butta only getting 1 point from me in VI was a complete injustice, and I can only apologise profusely :snif:

Janet was my first and as yet only 'of the moment' entry whom I didn't know prior to the contest. Although it was a good song, it was completely average and I have absolutely no desire to listen to it again.

 

For sure Black Butta was brilliant - Unique in being a live version and winning too, Beverley's phenominal performance never fails to amaze me!

I'm so relieved that I sent Uh Huh Her over Janet to XV...I got bored of Let Go in a couple of weeks...I wouldn't call Breakaway average, it's a good song, perhaps not as good as Heartache On The Dancefloor but that would have got slaughtered for sounding almost identical to Chris Brown's Forever

 

everything about Black Butta winning was great for the contest, a live song, a great album track, a great vocal, a debuting nation...it's a very special song for the contest and would be in the first five songs I mentioned if someone said 'name some BJSC classics'
