Courteeners to challenge for albums number one

14:57 | Tuesday April 8, 2008

The Courteeners face a fight for the number one slot with their debut album St Jude (A&M).

The album shifted almost 9,000 copies on its first day of release yesterday (Monday), putting it marginally ahead of Duffy’s Rockferry in an A&M one-two.

The Rolling Stones and James also look on course to score top ten hits this Sunday, with Shine A Light OST (Polydor) and Hey Ma (Mercury) respectively.

Meanwhile, Estelle’s American Boy (Atlantic) looks set to top the singles chart for a fourth week in a row, with Flo-Rida’s Low (Atlantic) likely to spend another week at two.

Black Kids’ Mercury debut I’m Not Going To teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You looks set to challenge for a top ten singles placing, making a massive leap from 84 last week, while Warner Bros’ Elliot Minor are set to break into the top 20 with Parallel Worlds.

I'm here... some of us do have to work

How disappointing for Natasha! :( I hope it can get Top 40 by Sunday. And glad to see Mariah will be staying Top 10! :D
Its a very slow chart this week, boy I nearly got Black Kids spot on in my prediction just missed the top 10, I think LSP will continue to climb considering its low charting position, surprised about Fragma, probably some downloads are missing or not combined. Hardly any new entries in the top 40
Britney will definitely be top 20 by the end of the week. ^_^
Great to see Girls Aloud with Can't Speak French and Tangled Up are both non-movers! WOO!

great to see girls aloud still holding strong

anyone know kylies;single or album positions??

Single was Top 40 (just) yesterday, album is not Top 40 - that's all we have so far

how on earth did Fragma shoot into the top 15 :o were there some missing sales yesterday!?!
Any Girls aloud info today?

Single is down 3, due to Elliot Minor and Fragma climbing above them (plus Utah Saints have overtaken them again)

Album is still a non-mover though :)

how on earth did Fragma shoot into the top 15 :o were there some missing sales yesterday!?!

With a jump of 10 places in one day, I'm guessing maybe the physical sales were missing yesterday?
