No one seems to know, really...I'd have a guess at about 40,000.

Its not fallen too fast but its not been a great chart run atall, especially for such a good song.

And dare i say this, people are still calling for another single. Lets see if this can beat FMH.

Mm, the thought of a 4th single worries me. I decidedly don't want one.

ooo I want a fourth single.. even if it does badly, it means more tv promo, and as a result more album sales, which are more important! IMO if the actually properly released my love is pink, it'd do well... clubs and radio one would eat it up =D

Hmm, I sort of agree, but I fear people would try to right them off with a third consecutive 'flop' single (despite the fact that Denial or in particular Change didn't flop at all - they merely missed the Top 10) and that we then wouldn't get an album in October. :P
what was denial in the midweeks.

Denial is an amazing track and didnt do much for the album so i duno what a 4th would do. I think album sales have been maximised from the huge popularity of about you now. I expected denial to sell more albums than it did.

And change and denial will always be underperformers for me, sales may have been ok in comparison to other singles but a lot of their other singles had physical only releases.

Eh? Downloads accounted for so little back in the Three eras, when they weren't counted, that it made no difference.

Change IS their 10th-biggest selling single, which IS a success. It outsold hits like Too Lost In You, and there's no doubt around those!

And yes, Denial did not an awful lot for the album, but then the album still isn't as low now as it had sunk after Change was over, and it has never been reduced in price below £8 or £9 in most stores, whereas most albums on a second or third single are.

Yes but the point is, downloads are bigger than physicals now. Physicals used to be like 2.99 and 3.99, a download is 79p.

I still see denial and change as doing quite badly. Alot of acts still go top ten with atleast two singles from their albums - britney, GA, rihanna, nelly furtado, kylie, westlife etc so the fact the sugababes missed it twice is bad in my opinion. And i will always see too lost in you as a bigger single too. People still generally take notice of chart placings anyway.

But a record company doesn't

which do u think island bosses would prefer?

#3 and 50,000 sold

or

#12 and 65,000 sold

the bottom one is going to make them more money, which is what they are after. Both Denial and Change helped the album, Denial rescued it from #70 ffs.

If you think Change isn't a success because it didn't make top 10, then you are more of an idiot than you look. TLIY was not as big as Change, and aside from #1's nobody gives a $h!t about chart placings.

I distinctly remember you saying "aslong as its top 15, i'm happy" which is a weird thing to say for someone who is only interested in no1 placings.

And if chart places arent important, why is it special that denial brought it up from the top 70?

Because it improved the sales of the album hugely, and obviously, when it jumped from #70 to #32.

Look at the sales for albums last week (similar time of year)

29. Miley Cyrus 4711

70. Rush 2548

On a platinum selling album, 2 thousand for a week does not help hugely. And in that respect, this is why i dont think the record company will have another single. Because a whole campaign is not worth a couple of thousand sales.

That's one week though, not the several that have been affected. Still, there's no denying that a better sales spike might have been desired, but at least the label are making more money on each of those extra 2,000 per week sold, because it's still full-price in most shops, whereas most albums are dropped in cost.

Overall the era will have made money because half a million albums sold is still good, and the tour has been massive.

^_^

I'm still a little dissappointed, single placings have been too low and the album has sold much less than earlier albums. Their radio airplay has not been as friendly with this album either. Thank heavens for about you now.

Maybe its a very good idea that they plan to work with timbaland now and maybe try a new direction?
