April 26, 200817 yr Let's forget the cover, it's about the music - this is Madonna's poppiest, most commercial album of the past 10 years at least - and it's fabulous. The Timbaland songs dont sound like his work (barr 4 Minutes which, though okay, is one of the album's worst two songs) and the Pharrell works is widely acknowledged to be his best in years and years. Songs like Heartbeat, Give It 2 Me, Miles Away and Voices are all amongst Madonna's best, and even the most lightweight stuff such as Incredible or Spanish Lesson are wonderful. ^_^
April 26, 200817 yr With Portishead's genre-defining masterpiece and this weak, flaccid Madonna album out on the same day, only a lunatic would waste money on Madollar. I certainly know which out of Madonna and Portishead I'LL be buying. (Yes, that is 100% Portishead for anyone who didn't get it). I really can't wait for it, roll on Monday. :yahoo:
April 27, 200817 yr Madonna really hasnt been on top of her game since the "Ray Of Light" era though... After that she has just basically followed a trend and sadly became not as good. This might sound a bit Madonna's Guy () eqsue, but i really do hate when people diss Madge! :) She was groundbreaking most defintely. The likes of Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears etc probably wouldnt exsist in the music buisness if it wasnt for Madonna. The fact that she still remains revelant (Granted not as much as she used to be...) is enough in itself. Can anybody really see Britney, Gwen, Nelly, Beyonce and all the other big female stars having number 1's when their edging on 50. I seriously DOUBT IT. "Hard Candy" is good but in comparison to her other CD's its very bad. Like i said the last time she was EXCELLENT was "Ray Of Light" when she produced the likes of "Nothing Really Matters" "Frozen" etc... As for the prediction it will obviously be Number 1. I think with about 90-100k sales.
April 27, 200817 yr Let's forget the cover, I'd love to - it's giving me nightmares since I saw it. this is Madonna's poppiest, most commercial album of the past 10 years at least - and it's fabulous. I beg to differ - I'd say it's her most American album in years - it's safe, bland, radio-friendly...and it's far from fabulous. Pharrell works is widely acknowledged to be his best in years and years. Pharrell has recorded some phenomenal work - Hard Candy his best in 'years and years'? Never. even the most lightweight stuff such as Incredible or Spanish Lesson are wonderful. ^_^ Both Incredible (surely a title laced with irony for such a shoddy, banal and forgettable track?) and especially the disastrous 'Spanish Lesson' can never, ever be called 'wonderful'. Both make 'Hey You' sound like a masterpiece. This is Madonna as a big-business sell-out. Her desperate attempt to sell records in America again (ok, it's worked - but at what price?). The world's number one gay icon recording with Pharrell? You couldn't make it up - and you most certainly wouldn't want to. And before the Madonna fans arrive en masse to pontificate about her fabulousness - I'm a long-term supporter. But even to the initiated, Hard Candy is about as appealing as soft, dog-eared, out-of-date fluff-laden nougat.
April 27, 200817 yr Madonna tries too hard IMO! I mean she tries way too hard to fit in with the sort of music that is 'In with the crowd' etc...
April 27, 200817 yr As much as I like Madonna and I adore ''4 Minutes'' I must say I am greatly disappointed by this album. Nothing sticks out for me and it reeks of ''trying too hard'' for me :( The only songs I really like are ''4 Minutes'', ''Miles Away'' and ''Devil Wouldn't Recognize You'' but it's by no means a great album. Of course it will go #01 though, she has a solid fanbase and ''4 Minutes'' is currently huge :P
April 27, 200817 yr she has the ability to sell 200,000 but i think it will be less.,. but she'll def be #1.. same goes for nearly every other european music market.
April 28, 200817 yr Madonna can and never win with some people, reading their pathetic comments about how c**p she's become since Ray of Light bore me to death but anyway......high sales are what i expect from the Queen next week :)

April 28, 200817 yr Madonna can and never win with some people, reading their pathetic comments about how c**p she's become since Ray of Light bore me to death but anyway......high sales are what i expect from the Queen next week :) She can win with me, she could make quality music like ray of light and time to say goodbye, they were timeless tracks that she will be remembered for. I dont really care if that bores you. I also dont like acts who get out of their depth and make music to just try to fit in. Acts like celine dion might not get no1 singles anymore but atleast she sticks to what she is good at and has grown old gracefully. And i might add, relies on her voice and not the beat in the background or the young "toy boys" added to trhe song titles. *rant over*
April 28, 200817 yr i have to say i like ray of light, music, american life and confessions, i could listen to them right through without skipping tracks i must candy shop is madonna-esque however not her best, i do like Give It 2 Me and Beat Goes On though
April 28, 200817 yr I don't know what you guys are on about?? I can't really predict how much she is gonna sell but i'm in love with this album. One her best work to date. She has got amazing reviews as well :D
April 28, 200817 yr I didn't like the cover at first aswell! but in total it's not that bad atall! even kinda cool just like britney's cover at first (until I bought it)
April 28, 200817 yr 114k. Tesco (or Asda? I forget which) are selling it for £9 and giving either "Immaculate Collection," "Ray Of Light," "Music" or "Confessions" free with every copy! How good an offer is that! After seeing the prices on the high street for Sam Sparro, I now predict him at #2 ahead of Portishead. £6.97 in Woolworths, £7.95 in HMV. Portishead may take an early lead, but I see Sparro pulling ahead by the week's end. Should be an interesting week... makes a difference from last week anyway!

April 28, 200817 yr Madonna can and never win with some people, reading their pathetic comments about how c**p she's become since Ray of Light bore me to death but anyway......high sales are what i expect from the Queen next week :) I'm a huge Madonna fan and have been right from the very start of her career in the early to mid-80's. But you know what, if I was just a casual fan you would turn me right off her. You probably think you are being this great super-loyal fan, but if anything you are doing her a disservice. Your posts are becoming increasingly tiresome if anyone dares say the slightest negative thing about her. Here's a newsflash for you: People are entitled to dislike Madonna if they want to!! And they are entitled to like and dislike some of her albums. Look I'm not trying to be rude to you, as I said, I'm a huge Madonna fan too. But seriously, stop ramming it down peoples' throats. Rant over.

Rant over. I'm a fan of Madonna, but not a venerating one: I bought all her album and her first 12 inch mix Everybody too, I think she's a smart artist for my personal taste. We can remember when in mid 90's her chart performance were not spectacular but her album were always very innovative and never obsolete. Nowadays time are changed: very low competition, low sales, and Madonna pop music reflux in the past style has been given her a prize. In Hard Candy, that is an not immediate album at the first listening, we can find some outstanding tracks like The Beat Goes On (thanks to Kanye West) , Give it To me (disco inferno inspired) and Candy Shop (a percect Prince emulation). CIAO ITALIA, SIETE GIA' CALDI ?? HELLO!!
