you might as well send Marina now - I don't think anyone will worry about it being cheap :kink:

Oh my, I was wondering why my topic had been revitalised! I might actually, poor BANG. :(

DO IT. Or i won't vote Veronica/Lloyd for duo of the year :smoke:

Well then, I might have to!

ACTUALLY, MY NAME'S MARINA

You will win the contest if you enter Hollywood.

People never believe me. But you will.

I don't like to be smug, but I don't find that hard to believe. When I reserved her, I thought she'd have a chance this month, but I thought it was too cheap. Doesn't seem to be a problem right now though.

Ooft, seriously?! It's an epic song, but I'd have never imagined you sending her. Would love you to, if I don't, though.

I'm still not sure if I should confirm Marina though. It'd be the straw that broke the camel's back and cause a domino effect of cheap entries.

Not if you send it right before deadline :magic: :heehee:

Seriously, much as I would hate for you to send it, Marina - Hollywood WILL win. But, better the kinda-cheap devil than the outrageously cheap devils this contest is probably going to cater for -_-

I sometimes wonder why I bother.

LOL. Have you seen the confirmations thus far? I don't think people are needing any persuasion on this front.

me neither, but I seriously wonder sometimes why I put so much effort into being anti-cheap when hardly anybody else seems to care anyway...why should I not be like everyone else and 'send my favourite song' :heehee:

True. I might hold out confirming it anyway, just so I can gauge how cheap it'll be nearer the time. It's hard to tell whether it'll be a top 3 smash or a low top 40 finish. Her buzz single was outperformed by Ellie Goulding's, but Ellie got considerably more airplay than Marina. Then again, La Roux didn't get her buzz single playlisted either, as far as I know. HMM.

:( I think we're being a bit presumptuous. It'll probably be a case of XIV, where the winner is a shocker.

True, but this is the song of the month that would get most stick, if sent.

I know what you mean. I did actually look for a mostly unknown entry this month, but it got hardly any comments. Marina is the one getting the attention.

Just send it. :( With all these other cheap entries being entered, I want one that I love to win.

Though if you find something better pls send that.

I think I might, it's just the deadline being so far away which is giving me doubts.

But yeah, while the deadline is a while away, I don't think I'll have much time to think of anything else.

I will set us up in the same semi if you enter it.

I thought this might be posted in here when I saw it on Popjustice! Love it, she sounds just as good as on record. I have to agree that her "Oh My God" face is one of the highlights.

Now you believe me? :smoke:

Oh yes. :o

I'm a slave to Popjustice, although arguably not as much as Tyron is, who literally regurgitates things that he's read on there in his own words on here :heehee:

I'd like to see Marina live, much moreso than I would the other hyped for 2010 artists - I never saw Boots or Florence last year but I did see La Roux live - it was a bizarre experience, she was incredibly disconnected from the audience

Haha, true! I'm not a great fan of it, but I follow it on Twitter and find myself checking it daily. It's one of those websites that are undeniably useful, just incredibly annoying. Sometimes it's worth it though, like that "Be Mine" Ellie/Erik duet they gave away.

Same, I'd imagine she's a good performer. I've already seen Ellie and Boots in the same night, but I wouldn't mind seeing Ellie properly on tour.

La Roux lived up to her image then?!

it's definitely annoying at times, I still can't get over the sheer overhype on that site of anything related to Sugababes/Girls Aloud - I like/love both bands but both have come up with some seriously questionable music at times yet it's always in some way 'AMAZING' to Popjustice -_- having said that, I've discovered a lot of great pop songs on there, and that duet was indeed gorgeous, the best thing I've heard Ellie do so far - I finally downloaded Starry Eyed last night and have come to the conclusion that it must be a grower because it's not the instant smash that Hollywood is...

La Roux was incredibly cold, I felt like I was watching her on TV rather than live, there was just no connection whatsoever - she just didn't seem to care about being there at all - more to my amusement though is that when I was queueing up for a drink her mum was in front of me in the queue AKA Sgt June Ackland from The Bill :heehee:

Oh yeah, definitely and they seem obsessed with pretty much anything Xenomania do for female artists, his taste seems a bit narrow. like mine

Yeah, most of her material is a grower, but I think "Starry Eyed" is one of her best. It doesn't exactly sound like a major hit though, none of her stuff does. Hopefully the version that's been around for ages is different to the single version, it needs an extra something. It'll probably be better in HQ as it sounded better live.

Oh dear, I thought she was supposed to be better live than her Live Lounge appearance. Oh yeah, I think I remember you saying about that at the time.

it could definitely do with some more punch to be a hit, but it's on the Radio 1 playlist already and with all of the accolades she's already won without actually doing much, she looks like she'll get the maximum possible media support so if she's destined to be a successful artist then she will be

oh, vocally she was definitely better than her disasterous Live Lounge performance - in fact I particularly enjoyed Bulletproof at the concert - it's just personality wise she didn't seem to have one  we have now of course learnt that she does have one, it's just not necessarily always pleasant...not that I've gone off her as such like Buzzjack seem to have, I'm not overly bothered on her personal opinions on other musicians, it really doesn't affect me in any way as I don't know the people she's slagging off personally

Yep, the Jakwob remix gives it more of a punch, but not in a way that'd make it a hit. I'm hoping the media coverage doesn't backfire, as it often does.

Oh right! Yeah, I don't like her personality and I don't think much of her music. "Bulletproof" was an exception of brilliance, while bits of the album were tolerable.
