Laura Stevenson has been resting on the even of her trip to Eledan.

"It's really been such an amazing week," said the singer-songwriter on return from promotion in Sangria and Kopecka. "I've loved travelling and meeting fans of the Contest, and I wish I'd have been able to visit more places in the time I had. I got a lovely good luck message from Beverley Knight a few days ago; I can't wait to meet up with her again in Eledan, as well as the other contestants. Aaahhh I'm so excited!"

Laura Stevenson leaves on Thursday for Eledan to make some appearances before appearing in the Buzzjack Song Contest.

Meanwhile HbTV have put together a new video for her song "Down."

After a fake national final which was advertised but never happend, FSR Farahtyn have announced Holly Valance as their particpant for BJSC 6. She hopes people will be able to enter a new State Of Mind, to get over her Naughty Girl immage, and hopes she won't have to say Down Boy too often, to people looking for a quick Kiss Kiss.

It's so hard to narrow these songs down to 10, I'm trying to prepare but I can't get it down to ten and I've only heard about two thirds of the songs so far. :o It's hard to rank songs that are classics like "Set You Free", "My Favourite Game" and "They" against songs I've just heard for the first time like "Hummer", "Earth Intruders" and "Naughty Girl". (those are just examples by the way and they aren't necessarily songs I'm going to give points to)

I know what you mean...Set You Free is my favourite song ever (literally) but I'm not so sure that I'll be giving it 12 points or anywhere near that amount

I prefer discovering new music in these competitions...I've listened to Set You Free practically twice a week at least for the last 10 years

Exactly, I don't know what to do about it, there are a handful of songs in this contest that I've loved for a while, but I'm not sure if I should give them (m)any points because it's almost unfair to compare them to songs I've either never heard or only heard very little of.

Well when I voted for the songs, I voted for what I liked most, it's not like the ones I didn't know were at a disadvantage, if I liked them enough they got a vote from me.

Remember at the end of the day it's still a contest to pick the best song not the most unknown song. Just vote for the ones you like....it's the only true way of voicing your opinion.

thats how Ashton has voted.

if a song is $h!t it ain't gettin any points from me, no matter how obscure it is

That's not what I meant exactly. Of course I'm not going to vote for a song just because it's one I've not heard of before. But what if there are about 10 songs that I like that I hadn't heard before but there are 5 songs I really like from before the contest? Do I put these 5 songs at the top because I liked them before the contest and I listen to them regularly?

Some people would say yes. If I've been listening to them for the last few years it's obvious that I would like them more than a song I'd heard in the last week that I knew nothing of before. But I don't know whether to give the well known songs higher points because I see it as a slight advantage as it's not really a level playing field.

This is what I think.....

It's great when I discover new songs that I like but I'm not going to give them special treatment by making it easier for them to get a vote then a song I know well. They have to fight for there votes just as much as a song I've known for ages. I think that's the only fair way of evaluting the songs. But I guess I'm helped by the fact that the songs in this contest I've heard before aren't ones I'm crazy about.

I'm not running a charity, I'm voiceing my opinion on the songs. That's how I think about it anyway ;)

FSR Rontvia keeps people in suspense

FSR Rontvia will not be announcing its new chart until after the contest in case people feel that immediate pre-contest sales are reflected in the votes from the Rontvian public. Last week, Fragma and N-Trance were battling it out with Untouched and Serebro...this week there looked set to be five new entries in the top ten...the new betting odds which will appear shortly greatly differ from those offered by Rontvian bookmakers before, as all of the songs have been heard and fairly judged now

I've listened to all of the songs (almost each day) and I gave points to the songs which I like. I didn't care for I've known it or not. 3 out of the 10 are songs which I've never heard before (and 2 out of top 3!)
out of the ten I voted for, 7 are songs I wasn't previously familiar with, 4 or 5 of those I consider to be excellent finds :D

Even though I said I don't give songs I don't know an advantage......eight of the songs I voted for I hadn't heard before the contest. :P

Also by the way, how does my siggy look? I made the heart in paint so it's a little rough. It doesn't look like too much does it?

Hmm I don't remember the ratio of known:unknown songs that I voted for. I shall try and retrace myself. :magic:
Hmm I think it was 5-5, though I don't remember exactly who I voted for. :hithead:

i just give a song a score out of 20 based on how much i like it after that one listen. if i quite like a song that i've never heard before its likely to go above a song i've known for ages if they have equal scores.

then again, i wouldn't give a sugababes song more than 17, where it comes in my points depends on how many songs get 20/19/18/17points.

but i usually discover some good tracks, and at the end of the day thats what its all about innit.

Ashton will hopefully be sending their votes in the morning, fingers crossed we've corrected all the issues we had last time.
