Yes but unlike See the day which also got to no9, this song sold tens of thousands before its release on downloads (which is a lot of potential sales taken away from physical release week). CSF has sold waaaaaaaaay more than see the day already.

 

As a GA fan, i totally know that they can never win really which is why i always go for them just doing their best. If they release bland songs, people say they should have more edge and take more risk and if they release edge, people call it a mess and snobbily turn their noses up at something different.

 

I blame the public, from now on, we'll probably get bland singles that do really well on radio as singles and they will leave their edgy songs on the album for fans and people with a bit of interest in different sounds.

They probably went for something safe like CSF because Sexy No No No, sold rather dissapointly and had a dissapointing chart run. Sexy was only the #103 on the end of year chart aswell despite reaching #5.

hmmm, i don't really want this to turn into a GA thread as its not just abpout them, but i will say that I've been very happy with the 3 singles off Tangled Up but i do think its time for another stormer.

 

Anyway, nice to see Sam Sparow doing well, but it so deserves #1, it's killing me that its not getting there

I think the Tangled Up era is definitely their best.

And this is just for S!NNN. It's by far their best song. I have never liked a Girls Aloud song except this and i think it just showed what they are capable of...and i really don't understand why it didn't do well!

Anyway, back on topic...I wish Santogold would hurry up and climb a bit more!!! Pleased that Pendulum are still holding up well though :cheer:

Maybe that's what they need - edginess - that's the reason I think SNNN is one of their best songs, it's not what you'd expect them to release, it's quite different to their usual sound. CSF seems like a safe single to keep their string of top 10 songs going, which it did, but it is their joint lowest peak for a single, even though it's got some staying power. I wonder if a more edgy song like SNNN would have helped them get a better peak?

 

I really don't see how 'Sexy! No, No, No' can be seen as 'different'. To me it's basically generic to the sort of thing they'd been doing before, except nowhere near as good.

 

The singles from this album should have been Control Of The Knife, Girl Overboard and Close To Love.
