"Standing in the Way of Control" is a single by the American indie rock band The Gossip from the album of the same name. The 2006 issue had climbed up to #13 in the UK Singles Chart in early 2007 on download sales, but the 2007 re-release was under a new catalogue number, meaning that their 6-place climb to #7 on March 4 was listed as a new entry rather than as a climber.

The song was written by Beth as a response to the United States government’s decision to deny gay people the right to marriage. She says, of the song:

“Nobody in the States was that surprised or shocked by what Bush did, but it made everyone I know feel helpless and cheated”

167 (New) 4.500 Oasis - The Importance of Being Idle

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/43/Oasis_-_TIOBI.jpg

"The Importance of Being Idle" is a song on the British rock band Oasis' sixth album, Don't Believe the Truth, written and sung by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. It was the second single released from the album in the UK, on August 22, 2005, where it debuted at number 1.

R&B/pop singer Christina Milian penned the song for Jennifer before hitting the music scene herself. There is still speculation over who actually sung the chorus for "Play", with the majority of people agreeing it is indeed Milian's voice, and not Lopez'. This has never been officially clarified or denied. When looking through the booklet of J. Lo, Milian is mentioned as singing background vocals. It reached UK#3 & USA#18.

That's interesting. I never knew about that. :o

The song and video for "Whole Again" originally featured Kerry Katona; however, she left the group several days prior to the number-one position because of her pregnancy. The video was remade when Jenny Frost was added to the line-up as a replacement. The video included the girls in a variety of ever-changing outfits. It was criticised because of it's similarities to the Sugababes single Overload. The song was rerecorded with Frost's vocals.

The single opened with a first week's sale of 69,286 copies and the success of "Whole Again" with 934,600 copies sold. It was the UK's 4th best selling single in 2000 & topped the charts in 19 countries.

In December 2007, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) recorded a version of "Whole Again", for inclusion on the Liverpool - The Number Ones Album charity album, celebrating Liverpool as a 2008 European Capital of Culture. The song's author Andy McCluskey is the co-founder of OMD, who reformed and toured in 2007 always performing this track.
