110 (199) 5.159 Coldplay - Speed of Sound

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/bb/Coldplay_speedofsound.png

"Speed of Sound" is the lead single from Coldplay's 2005 album, X&Y. Beginning with a piano riff the song builds into a huge, synth-heavy chorus: "Birds go flying at the speed of sound, to show you how it all began / Birds came flying from the underground, if you could see it then you'd understand." The song was inspired (according to the band) by the drum beat of Kate Bush's song, "Running Up That Hill".

"Speed of Sound" was infamously beaten to the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart by the novelty song "Axel F" by the Crazy Frog, instead peaking at number two for a week. It also reached USA#8.

106 (New) 5.227 S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin'

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/44/DontStopMovin(SClub).jpg

S Club 7 recorded the song in early 2001 after they finished making their second album, "7", with their regular songwriter, Simon Ellis, and Shep Solomon, who had worked on Geri Halliwell's hit, "Bag It Up". The song was released in April 2001, and hit #1 twice in the space of a month (incidentally, it was Geri Halliwell's "It's Raining Men" that spent two weeks atop the #1 position in between), becoming the year's seventh biggest-selling single, and scooping the BRIT Award for Best British Single in 2002 and ITV's Record of the Year accolade.

wow, everyone's gone off Shakira this year! another undeserved drop! I dread to think how many undeserved Britney/Sugababes tracks have knocked all of these classics down

I agree, except I think Girls Aloud are equally to blame. I think the Sugababes and Britney have more songs that are remembered than Girls Aloud. "(You Drive Me) Crazy" and "Red Dress" might not deserved to be high, but I think they will be remembered longer than things like "No Good Advice" and "The Show". In fact I can't even think how "The Show" goes right now, I just know it's the video where they are running a salon or something.

"Get Ur Freak On" is a hip hop song written by American rapper/singer Missy Elliott and her producer/husband Tim "Timbaland" Mosley for Elliott's third studio album Miss E… So Addictive (2000).

I didn't know Missy Elliott and Timbaland were married. I just thought they were friends.

104 (178) 5.250 Britney Spears - I'm A Slave 4 U

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3e/BS_Slave4u.jpg

"I'm a Slave 4 U" is the first single from pop singer Britney Spears released from the album Britney during the third quarter of 2001.

It is often considered a developmental milestone in Spears' career because of the single's steamy music video, somewhat raunchy lyrics and slight urban origins. The single is probably most well-known for the aforementioned video, which more fully redefined the then 19-year-old's controversial public image from the virginal "girl next door".

This Neptunes written & produced track peaked at UK#4, Ireland#3, Australia#3 but only USA#27. But this track topped the charts in Germany, Brazil, Belgium, Finland, & Japan's (non Japanese tracks) chart.

103 (133) 5.250 Kylie Minogue - Spinning Around

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4b/32_spinning_around.jpg

"Spinning Around" is a dance–pop song produced by Mike Spencer and written by Ira Shickman, Osborne Bingham, Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul for Australian singer Kylie Minogue's seventh studio album Light Years (2000). It marked her return to dance-oriented pop music.

Possibly the most eagerly awaited release of her career, "Spinning Around" achieved gold status in Australia prior to being released. The first single from her Light Years album, caused a sensation by propelling Kylie back to the top of the charts, debuting at No. 1 in both the UK and Australia. The song became Kylie's first number one single in Australia since "Confide In Me" (1994) and her first in the UK since "Tears on My Pillow" ten years earlier. "Spinning Around" also gave Kylie the honor of being one of three artists (the others being Madonna and U2) to have a number one in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. "Spinning Around" won Kylie Best Pop Release at the prestigious ARIA Awards in Australia.

It was also #1 in Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, the European Top 100, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Lebanon, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal & Slovakia.

I'm surprised but pleased 'Valerie' made it this high. :D

111 (22) 5.140 Pink - Who Knew

Wow, another undeserved huge drop. This would definitely be one of my all time favourites.

'Unpretty' should be higher too. :(

I hope there isn't a ridiculous amount of Sugababe/ GA/ Britney songs in the top 100, i wouldn't be surprised if i saw a flop like Follow Me Home in there

Well, there's still all the songs that made it through to the play-offs and didn't get through and then there's the ones in the final. I'd say there are still a lot of them to come. Have we even seen a GA/Sugababes song yet?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f7/My_Immortal.jpg

"My Immortal" is the third single from rock band Evanescence's major label debut album, Fallen. Due to popularity at concerts, a new version of the song was recorded and released to radio.

The song reached number seven in the United States and the United Kingdom and number one in Portugal; in Canada it debuted at number one and spent over twenty weeks in the top five. In Australia, it was the seventh-highest selling single of 2004 despite only reaching #4.

though not a huge fan of the song when it came out, I appreciate that this is one of the pop classics of the decade now and the reason that S Club 7 haven't been forgotten altogether...I still often hear it on radio/TV now

Have we even seen a GA/Sugababes song yet?

That was the point im trying to make... im thinking they are all at the top. But they can't all have got through.

Anyway i better stop complaining

Britney's I'm A Slave 4 U was the first track by those 3 artists within the Top 200 countdown.

GA have 6 songs in the Top 100; Sugababes have 9 songs within the Top 100 & Britney Spears has another 8 within the Top 100. So those 3 acts account for 23% of Buzzjack's Top 100.

I'm looking to countdown #100 - #81 after Dr Who (19:00 hrs UK time).

Then I'm planning to post #80 - #51 tomorrow before the Chart countdown, concluding with the Top 50 on Bank Holiday Monday.
