How good does this sound

Thats ok actually! Although I am currently falling in love with Timbas version again! :lol:Whos the girl??

Thanks Simon. That was really very good. He's very natural on stage too. The crowd seemed to be loving him :D
X-Factor: Shane Ward at Sheffield Arena

Five days into his new UK tour, the winner of the X Factor TV talent show from three years ago packed out the Arena and left his fans 'breathless' - the name of his new album.

He sang his most well-known track - his debut song That's My Goal, followed by another crowd favourite No Promises.

But to get the crowd going he sang covers of contemporary hits including Amy Winehouse's version of Valerie and Timbaland's Apologise.

One of the unexpected highlights of the night was when he flew over the crowd during his rendition of Breathless.

But despite the applause he got throughout his show the crowd must have felt short changed by the backing tape playing constantly throughout the gig, meaning it was rare for him to sing an entire song without him resting his voice on the higher pitched sections.

Shayne Ward proves polished performer at Glasgow SECC

May 13 2008 Beverley Lyons

IT MAY have been the first night of his UK tour but Shayne Ward's voice and delivery was smooth enough to woo his audience at Glasgow's SECC.

The 2005 X factor winner has grown into a big boy and a fine performer.

Wardrobe changes made Shayne into a veritable action man as he posed in a range of outfits, from a masked robocop in bondage gear and leather pants and ending in a boy-next-door black shirt and chinos.

Using a moonscape backdrop, he intro-ed on Tell Him, followed by some Tears Never Dry before launching into Pharrell's She Wants to Move and Timbaland's Apologize.

X Factor fans were treated to That's My Goal/No Promises.

The finale was fitting as Shayne, now dressed in white, sang Melt The Snow before gliding through the air during Breathless to meet fans.

By the time No You Hang Up was sung, everyone was indeed breathless.

Did he not have a live band then? Did he really have to have a tape of his higher notes? Did he really have to use covers of other people's stuff to get the crowd going?

I still think this guy is being short changed in terms of the material he has been given. I was hoping for better from him TBH.

anyway - I'm sure the fans are loving the show, and good luck to them, and to Shayne himself :D

Went last night

Wasn't the best concert at all

No singing went on from the audience just screaming girls  I had a proper screlcher behind me I nearly threw her off the edge.

Main bad points

1. Most of the appreciation was down to Shayne's looks

2. His backing singer did a better job than he did

3. His backing singer sang more than he did

4. Too Many covers

5. The support acts were the foulest bunch of support acts I've ever had to sit through

Doesn't sound very impressive. You must be disappointed as a fan. :( I hate it when kids go to concerts just to scream. They must have no idea what the artist actually sounds like.

It's a shame you didn't enjoy the concert Simon - I went to Cardiff and had a great time, Shayne looked and sounded great, the audience were very enthusiastic but not over-screamy! I would agree that there were probably one or two covers too many, although I can understand his reasons for including them, and yes the support acts weren't that great. There is a review of the concert you went to in the Manchester Evening News today.

Shayne Ward @ M.E.N. Arena

Dianne Bourne

26/ 5/2008

IT’S been two and a half years since Shayne Ward won his pop crown on talent show The X Factor.

In the fickle world of pop that’s a pretty long time. But there appears to be no fear of Shayne’s besotted army of fans of taking their affections elsewhere on evidence of their ear-piercing screams at the weekend.

They packed out the M.E.N. Arena for their hero's homecoming on Sunday, just as sports fans had done the night before for Ricky Hatton at Eastlands. It sure is a great time to be a returning Manc idol.

Shayne returned the favour with a show where pretty much everything was bigger, bolder, brighter and, well, blingier that his debut solo tour a year ago. This was aptly-named the Breathless tour, and that’s clearly how he wanted to leave his fans.

The Clayton-raised star rose onto the stage like a cross between Robocop and the Phantom of the Opera, in a silver mask, leather trousers and tailcoat before springing around the stage conducting a faux-string section and showing off his jerky dance grooves.

He’s soon joined by his team of dancers who romp through songs from Shayne’s second album, Breathless, with some seriously slick choreography.

No expense has been spared on this new tour for Shayne, with explosive pyrotechnics, a huge video screen backdrop, cool costumes and an excellent live band and backing singers. Heck, Shayne even gets to fly at the scintillating finale to this show, where the tears were rolling down his cheeks as he thanked Manchester fans for their fervent and ongoing support of his career.

All the hits were here – and the biggest singalongs were unsurprisingly for his debut number one – That’s My Goal, and follow-up No Promises, in which Shayne sits back on the stage and conducts his fans in their rousing chorus.

And even his cover versions are a bit cooler this time around – he keeps the party spirit high with N.E.R.D’s She Wants to Move, Timbaland’s The Way I Are and One Republic’s Apologize.

He returns for his encore with No U Hang Up getting everyone dancing in the aisles and breathless for more.

This talent show boy has done good.

Caught Live Shayne Ward

By LARRY MEYLER

WITH Leona Lewis enjoying massive global success at the moment it would seem every other X Factor contestant has disappeared into obscurity.

That is until Shayne Ward took to the stage at the O2 in London last night.

The singer has enjoyed ups and downs in terms of success, but has stuck at it and last night’s uncomplicated pop extravaganza of a show reminded the crowd just why they chose him as the 2005 winner of the juggernaut talent show.

With a crowd that consisted of rather a lot more men than expected, and an array of six year old girls, who seemed ready to spontaneously combust, it really was a mixture of fans from across the board.

Dressed in a bondage style orchestra conductors outfit, complete with Phantom Of The Opera style silver mask, Shayne launched into Tell Him from his latest album Breathless.

Throughout the show there was a very well rehearsed and wise mixture of songs from the both the new album and also recognizable hits such as the million selling single That’s My Goal.

Shayne had obviously been brushing up on his dancing too as his locking and ability to entwine with the backing dancers proved he’s put in the work and could deliver.

The covers came thick and fast from a faultless version of One Republics Apologize, with some contemporary routines going on behind him, to a disco version of Mojo’s Ibiza anthem Lady (Hear Me Tonight).

Breathless, which is probably the most memorable from the lasted offerings was the finale, which was sang with heartfelt emotion.

It all seemed a bit much, as Shayne stood back to take in this obvious milestone show, and something he had been aiming to achieve since he began his singing career.

Then like a scene from Westlife’s Flying Without Wings video, he was lifted to the air and soared across the crowd, which was pretty well staged and sent deafening screams through the arena.

With offerings still to come from Leon Jackson - who watched last night’s show with enthusiasm - Shayne Ward keeps his crown as king of the pop talent show winners with the voice, drive and stage presence to achieve the ultimate goal, longevity.

That is of course if he can take some control over his future and head in a more daring direction using much more creative producers and video directors than in the past, and hopefully not get lost in a sea of mundane ballads and dull suits.

But on Wednesday night, Mr Ward pulled it off and provided a great live pop show with personality and talent, even without the mega bucks staging.

The lad from a Manchester council estate has indeed done good.

Waits for Will Young fans to find any bad reviews.........

What brilliant reports DaisyChain. How lovely to see how emotional he got in appreciation of his fans. Would like to have got to see one of the shows, but unfortunately its a bit too far for me. The only person I'd travel that far for is Gareth (when I get the chance)

Thanks for posting those up. Hope the rest of the tour goes well
