Im just stating the facts and putting people right, if thats being defensive then so be it.

You really are stupid arent you. You just don't get it do you?

As I stated before that figure has been banded by a credible source inside the Universal UK record label and has been talked about by the Independent, Guardian, Daily Telegraph & Daily Mail.

It is hardly the Sun, the Mirror or Daily Star is it.

As I said before the reason this band have came onto the radar of the likes of Grimly, Russt & myself is because of the large amounts of money spent hyping this new act that has been reported across the media.

For example why do you think Top Sports stars or Film Stars are paid so much? The answer is because of their ability to provide success to their respective teams/movies & hence recoup the revenue spent on them multiple times over.

Why else are Chelsea & Manchester United expected to do better than Middlesbrough and Fulham next season in the Premiership? Answer because they've spent more money on players than the smaller clubs therefore they not unreasonably expect better results.

The same logic applies to the Music INDUSTRY. The simple fact is that Universal UK are not investing a relatively huge amount of money (hence the comparison between the Saturdays & Amy Winehouse that was quoted in a report on them in the Daily Telegraph) on a new act to get a failure as the end product. They expect results from this manufactured band. Therefore they are not just another pop band, because of the money involved they need to be successful more than a lower profile new act like Noah & The Whale or Ava Leigh because of the money involved.

It is as simple as that.

HELLO are you actually reading anything i say? How dare you brand me stupid when i havent disputed what you've been saying, i've questioned the actual exact firgure of 400k - thats it.

You are rather ignorant by not reading what i've been saying.

THATS as simple as it is. A fair few people on this thread feel the need to repeat themselves for no apparent reason, i'd call those stupid not the people who are taking into account everything people say just questioning where the sources are.

Sorry but, if there's been someone repeating himself since the beginning of this thread, it's you, not them

How exactly?!

Well said, Bertie.

Does anybody else find this thoroughly interesting? Not the repetitive bile some plebs are coming out with. But the discussion surrounding the mechanics of the music industry. The launching of a new act and the money, logistics etc involved and then seeing how it pans out.

Some really interesting discussion here (from some people anyway). Thoroughly agree with everything you've said Richard.

I havent been repetative at all in this thread so i dont know why people are mentioning this and others are agreeing - accuse me of stuff that can be backed up thats all im saying.

Love the disussion in general too. Great buzz surrounding them, we will just have to see how they do in 3 weeks time as we all know how fickle the buisness is (aswell as two of the members in the band).

 exactly!

It's pretty embarassing watching this thread turning into a Coolnav abuse-fest. Everybody needs to remember that at the end of the day it's only music we're discussing (music that not all of the posters in this thread are even passionate about) and there's never any need to get personal. Calling him 'stupid' is barely fair in any context, never mind one where all he is trying to do is get his word across the same as you.

Why doesn't everybody just calm down and take a look at themselves?!

ugh, so the fat self-centered idiot is back? I was enjoying the Radio 1 holiday without him, they actually played music in his absense.
Loving it, im so glad people are actually playing it and not snubbing it - IMO they play so much bad and american stuff that its refreshing to hear The Saturdays.

She sings 'then i dont wanna know what is' and 'then im about to hit a miss' in the chorus. Glad you like it, certainly a grower i think.

snubbing it?... after spending as much money promoting it as the record company has there was no chance of that!

they have bought their airplay... it aint being played because its popular.

refreshing?... its generic, uninspired, bog standard gurly pop.. its ok... but thats all.

Heard it before on Galaxy, really great to hear it everywhere and the dj's introducing it as the next great girlband. People at college know them too now, great that people actually talk about them.
i heard 'ifil' on chris moyles today, must admit, its wearing very thin on me now..

You never liked it in the first place. There really is no need for negativity when it's for the sheer sake of it.
