May 8, 200817 yr I know & like: 1 S-Express -Theme From S-Express 2 Fairground Attraction -Perfect 3 Danny Wilson - Mary's Prayer 4 New Order - Blue Monday 1988 5 Bananarama - I Want You Back 6 Hazell Dean - Who's Leaving Who 10 Pet Shop Boys - Heart 12 Prince - Alphabet Street 13 George Michael - One More Try 18 Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere 20 Climie Fisher - Love Changes (Everything) 26 Adventures - Broken Land 28 Brenda Russell - Piano In The Dark 33 Prefab Sprout - The King Of Rock 'N' Roll 36 Belinda Carlisle - Circle In The Sand 38 Aztec Camera - Somewhere In My Heart 40 Ofra Haza - Im Nin'Alu A very poor chart, but a few classics there - my favourites include the wonderful Adventures track, and the bubblegum funk of Prince. But as Prince does not like his video's uploaded to Youtube (I'd guess he'd rather sell out and give them all to the Daily Mail), I found this highly amusing short video: WAb8kMFbXkc Prince The Artist - Tw@t So in tribute to this chart I'd thought I'd post a video for the worst song in the Top 40: :rap: :P B) Kcy3gwwxat4 Liverpool FC - Anfield Rap

May 10, 200817 yr on a personal level 1988 was not one of my favourite years, so that somewhat colours my thoughts about the music back then. I do think that the chart was poor then but there were still some decent songs in that chart - Adventures, Belinda Carlisle and Aztec Camera in particular. Others, like S Express were OK. 1988 was the year that the singles chart began to undergo a transformation, prior to 1988 most top 40 songs climbed into the top 40 from 41-75, after 1988 (until last year) most entered the Top 75 chart inside the top 40. 1988 itself was about 50/50 I think.
