Suagababes and The Feeling to play Vodafone TBA!

16/05/2008

Okay, here’s the deal. The Sugababes are hardly rock n roll, but they’re mighty fine – as in a mighty fine, BRIT-Award winning, all-girl pop band. The Feeling are… well, The Feeling! The most rock thing they’ve probably done is put salt in a bandmates cup of tea and stuck a post-it note on his back reading: ‘POO-HEAD’. Alas, the first Vodafone TBA of the year is taking place in Edinburgh on June 1st, and it promises to be a pleasant evening of pleasant pop.

Sure, if hard-rock was considered c**k-rock then The Feeling would need a pack of ten Viagra, but they’re much loved on British shores and are fast becoming a renowned act internationally. Their debut album ‘Twelve Stops and Home’ went straight to number one and has sold well over a million copies. If you think that’s impressive, The Sugababes have sold more than five (5) million albums, including three triple-platinum discs here in the UK, with a further thirteen top ten singles.

The way that Vodafone TBA works is a wee bit special. Vodafone customers can win tickets to the show by texting ACTS to 61500. Furthermore, the event will be shown live on T4 at 1pm on June 1st, meaning you could well be on TV! And that’s not all; a very special guest band will be playing on the day as well. WHOO!

Daragh Persse, Head of Sponsorship at Vodafone commented that “2008 is another great year for customers to experience Vodafone’s Live Music programme which has seen some of the greatest artists from around the world perform to music fans across the UK.

“We are poised to deliver superior music experience to our customers this year with a tremendous line-up of artists and musicians as well as unique services and content for customers and fans”.

Indeed. For 2008 marks limitless options for the lucky Vodafone fans attending the event. Bluetooth teams will be onsite to greet guests as they arrive, with content including artist videos, java application gig guides, band biographies and exclusive professional images from the day’s experience. A memento, if you were.

If you’re thinking that Vodafone TBA is all about attractive and successful girl groups and pop-bands, you’d be wrong. You see as well as another Vodafone TBA event taking place in August, September marks the Vodafone Live Music Awards. Fans are given the opportunity to vote for their favourite bands on the Vodafone website, with nominees being put forward to a judging panel. Previous winners have included Amy Winehouse, Mika and the mighty Iggy Pop!

For the second year running, 2008 marks a holy union between Sony Ericsson and Vodafone in their quest to promote the finest live music and the ultimate gig experience. The mighty fine Sony Espresso Black W890i headphones will be available exclusively to Vodafone Pay Monthly and Vodafone Pay as You Talk customers. Oh, and they’ll also have the ‘Sony Ericsson Tour of the Year Award’ at the Vodafone Live Music Awards; the winner being chosen by public vote.

A reminder: If you’re a Vodafone customer and would like to attend Vodafone TBA, text ACTS to 61500.
