yea but alot of artists have changed, look at mariah carey, her music style has changed alot

Mariah Carey just releases music these days to sell in the US, and that is one of the main reasons I hate her. She doesn't care about sticking to her roots or being artistic and daring to release pop incase it doesn't sell, so instead she just releases cheap R&B/pop to shift units.

I mean, she has enough money and fans to not care if it doesn't sell, and look at Britney and Madonna, they still dare to release pop and it far from flops on a worldwide scale.

I hope Nelly Furtado doesn't move in Mariah's direction, but I'm liking 'Maneater' a lot...

She be Top 3 if she is lucky, not really great releases in the same week, there seems to be a lot of footie songs generating at the moment, and most of those will flop, so Nelly could be an outsider for the No.1 the following week. She will be outdone by Embrace though.

But that was gradual. This is so extreme.

And like Shoat, I'm worried this change in style is a pursuit of better sales.

I'd like to see Mariah release more pure pop too. Her mid 90s stuff was great.

However I don't think she's suddenly changed her style to sell records. 'Charmbracelet' was very safe RnB - and sold poorly. The last album had fewer rappers on it and has sold a lot more so I'm not sure your theory works.

Also, her record boss / husband would never let her release her more urban stuff, instead forcing her to release ballads and poppy lead singles.

She releases RnB now because she couldn't then. It's childish but I don't think it's as calculated as you think.

My opinion on the track has suddenly changed, its a dead cert for No.1 next week, sales wise I'm thinking 48k plus

I have liked the song since I first heard it. The video is OK but a bit run of the mill stuff.

I voted for it the be top 3, but I totally agree with Mikey & e-motion. It looks a dead cert for number 1 next week.

I didn't like it at all at first, but LOVE it now! #8 on downloads alone, so I'm thinking #1 :cheer:

#1 ?? Nah.

Bear in mind 'Rihanna - S.O.S' charted at #5 purely on downloads, yet only managed the #2 slot a few weeks ago.

I can't get into 'ManEater',heard it 3 times and it hasn't quite grabbed me by the nodules as yet.

I'll say #2 next week,can't see this making #1 TBH. :)

Only because of Gnarls Barkley in the way, which is fair enough, what competition does this have setting it back?

I think it'll sail all the way to #1, selling 45k.

I'm hedging my bets on Sandi Thom holding on for another week. :P

Sandi has no chance I think.

 Oh well,I have been wrong before. We'll find out when the 'predictions' are revealed. ;)

I like Maneater. Yes, Nelly's previous stuff was a lot better, but this track is still pretty good. I hope it does get to number one, if nothing else to knock Sandi Thom off there.
