Since we were talking bout Horror remakes... Look what the cat dragged in

MGM is planning to remake two of its hits from the '80s, The Hollywood Reporter says.

Studio heads Harry Sloan and Mary Parent revealed at the Cannes Film Festival that John Milius's 1984 film Red Dawn, which sees Communists igniting World War III by invading the US from Cuba and Russia, is being scheduled for a remake.

Paul Verhoeven's Robocop, about a fatally wounded police officer who is turned into a cyborg crime fighter, is also likely to get the remake treatment.

Sloan also brushed aside the negativity surrounding the release of Valkyrie from MGM subsidiary United Artists.

"We've had image problems before," Sloan noted, referring to bad word of mouth on Casino Royale and Rocky Balboa. "The film will speak for itself."

OH FOR FUKK SAKE!!!!!! Now, THIS is exactly what I'm talking about..... The original "Robocop" is a classic.... A remake could not possibly touch in any way the Paul Verhoeven original, which was groundbreaking in every way... It certainly wont have the sense of almost surreal black humour that Verhoeven injected into the film.... Can this be any more of a stupid idea....? <_< <_<

The remake will be full of rubbishy CGI "effects" which will just bleed all the character out of Robocop.... In fact, it's just gonna look like some c**p cash-in idea on the back of the success of "Iron Man".....

then again i guess it can't be any worse than the TV series (mini series/DTV movies?!?!?) - you know the cheap ones you get on Prism Leisure when you buy a cheap DVD player in Tescos...

...then again if they want to make the remake all urban - at least I think I know a good theme tune....

Yeah, the sequels and the utterly forgettable series (none of which Verhoeven had nothing to do with...), were laughable tbh.... I think I watched the pilot episode of the series and just thought "meh, that's about 90 minutes of my life I aint getting back....".
