Posted May 20, 200817 yr May as well have them all in one place than loads of cluttering threads... Significant ones so far: Luca Modric [Dinamo Zagreb(?) > Tottenham] - £15m+ Mattheiu Flamini [Arsenal > AC Milan] - free Jose Bosingwa [Porto > Chelsea] - £16m+ Phillip Degen [Dortmund > Liverpool] - free I think that sums up the difference between Liverpool (and Arsenal) and Chelsea (and Man Utd) and why they won't challenge for the title. Right-back needed, Chelsea spend £16m on probably one of the best in the world, Liverpool sign someone on a free who may improve their back line, but not by enough... Premiership releases: Arsenal: Aston Villa: Berger Sorenson Blackburn: Berner Enkelman Henchoz Bolton: Andranik Campo Stelis Chelsea: Everton: Carsley [birmingham] Fulham: Liverpool: Man City: Man Utd: Middlesbrough: Dong-Gook Mendieta Rochemback Newcastle: Carr Ramage [QPR] Troisi Portsmouth: Sunderland: Cole Harte Varga Wright Tottenham: West Ham: Wigan: Olembe Skoko Most clubs not said yet...
May 20, 200817 yr I don't think Liverpool's and Arsenal's transfers show why they won't challange for the title this season, I think it just shows a lack of resources.Liverpool adnd Arsenal are both concentrating a lot more on your youth policies now. I'd love for Liverpool go to and splash 10 million plus on someone like Rafinha, but it's not gonna happen at the moment. The Degen transfer is a terrible one. All of the Dortmond fans hate him, and he has apparent attitude problems. The only plus I can see to him, is that he's apparently quite an attacking full back, so he should put very well into Liverpool's new system.
May 23, 200817 yr Schwarzer leaves Middlesbrough for FREE to join Fulham on a 2 year contract :manson: Talk about a step down :kink: No doubt it leaves us open to try and get Paul Robinson
May 24, 200817 yr Schwarzer leaves Middlesbrough for FREE to join Fulham on a 2 year contract :manson: Talk about a step down :kink: You're better off without him, he's done nothing but moan about how he's unhappy at the club for the past 2-3 years. I'm sure you'll be able to find a more than adequate replacement for him considering the prices that top quality goalkeepers are sold at.
May 24, 200817 yr If you believe the newspapers Arsenal have signed Nasri and will beannounced sometime this week...
May 24, 200817 yr Here's hoping! Nasri is certainly in my top 10 players who've impressed me the most this year, would be a great asset to the Premier League.
May 24, 200817 yr I've never seen him play so don't have an opinion on him but he's meant to be one of the best young players in Europe. And he's also good on Football manager!
May 25, 200817 yr Hang on isn't Nasri a attacking midfielder? I'd have thought we'd be looking for a more defensive midfielder to replace Flamini, unless we're gonna take the chance of playing both Fabregas and Nasri as our central midfield duo
May 25, 200817 yr Luca is spelled with k. So its LUKA.... And some newspapers wrote about Stipe Pletikosa as new Man.Utd. goalkeeper.
May 26, 200817 yr If you believe the newspapers, "Chelsea will continue to pursue the players sacked boss Avram Grant wanted to sign this summer - and will pay up to £50m for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres." :manson:
May 26, 200817 yr It doesn't suprise me that Abramovic wants Torres, Rafa would no way sell Torres, but I wouldn't it past those two American owners to sell him, but it's all just paper talk, and even IF Liverpool sold Torres, he most certainly wouldn't be sold to a Premier League club.
May 26, 200817 yr Author It doesn't suprise me that Abramovic wants Torres, Rafa would no way sell Torres, but I wouldn't it past those two American owners to sell him, but it's all just paper talk, and even IF Liverpool sold Torres, he most certainly wouldn't be sold to a Premier League club. Why not? If Rafa were to ever come up with that excuse it'd just prove him to be the hypocrite he is once again. Less than a year ago he had a right go at Man Utd for not wanting to sell one of their players to one of their main domestic rivals but to go abroad instead where the chance of them coming back to haunt you is much less... So surely by his own logic he wouldn't mind selling a player to a domestic rival?!

I don't see why in his right mind he'd want to sell Torres, the only reason Torres would leave would be because of the owners selling him. I still think this is all paper foddle though, i've seen this rumour before a week or so again and it's just exactly the same rumour from the same paper too I think, only with a "quote" from a Chelsea insider.
June 2, 200817 yr Not exactly transfers, but news on the managerial roundabout, which could spark a few Chelski players heading for Milan. Mourinho has been named Inter's new manager (after they sacked Mancini ) <- Mourinho has been linked with Drogba and Lampard ever since he was sacked (never bought that mutual consent piffle they told us) Eriksson's finally been put out of his misery, with City holding talks with Hughes :o
June 2, 200817 yr Mark Hughes is linked with practically everyone right now (and for good reason I suppose - the fact that he's kept a squad as weak as the Blackburn one afloat for the past 2-3 seasons is a miracle in itself). If he holds out for long enough he could do SO MUCH BETTER than City. Potential successor for Fergie anyone?

If he holds out for long enough he could do SO MUCH BETTER than City. Potential successor for Fergie anyone? it's going to be all the former Utd players who will be in line to replace Sir Alex  (if he does indeed go by 2011 as he says he will) Hughes, Keane, Bruce, etc etc. If Hughes went to City it wouldn't really be a good move for his future prospects with the work he's achieved so far.
June 2, 200817 yr Author I think it would. With money he'll be able to take City higher and prove himself further. It's fine working on a budget and being successful looking for bargains but you need to prove you can make big money signings too. Look at Big Sam, spent big once with Anelka at Bolton yet was so successful, he went to Newcastle and splashed millions on loads of players and it didn't work.
June 3, 200817 yr Mark Hughes is now favourite to become Chelsea manager and City manager... well whatever he does/doesn't do, he won't be at Blackburn next year. -_- I hope he goes to Chelsea though, because if he goes to City I can see him taking Bentley and Santa Cruz with him... and I can see us doing pretty badly next year without those three. Oh and apparently Man Utd are preparing a £15m bid for Santa Cruz as well. :arrr:
June 3, 200817 yr If Hughes goes to City I doubt he's take Bentley and Santa Cruz with him, I think they'll leave (especially if Hughes goes) but I can see one of the bigger clubs coming in for them. Liverpool are continually linked with Bentley and ditto with Man Utd for Santa Cruz.
