July 29, 200816 yr Absolutely made up with this deal. He knows the Premier League through and through and his game is perfect to suit Torres'. For effectively £8m + Crouch i'd say we've just pulled off a massive coup. I think that he will spend most of his time on your bench tbh Rafa pretty much plays Torres on his own upfront and the likes of Kuyt and Babel are fighting for a place too so I think Keano will either spend most of his time in midfield or on the bench You would have to change your system to accomodate Keane

I think one of the reasons we've signed Keane is that he fits into the system we play well, all we'd have to do, is play Gerrard on the right and then play Keane between Gerrard and whoever plays on the left (most likely Babel). Or then we could change our system, which I wouldn't be suprised about at all tbh, maybe 5-3-2 or something like that if we sign Barry. Personally I think a front combination of Babel-Keane-Gerrard-Torres looks absolutely lethal on paper.

If anything I can foresee if any decent offers come in for Kuyt then Liverpool will be tempted to accept.
July 29, 200816 yr Author Alonso and Mascherano holding with Babel, Keane and Gerard behind Torres isn't exactly much worse than Man Utd or Chelsea. Though that's never really been their problem. Liverpool's problem has always been Rafa's inability to see you need your strongest lineup playing as often as possible!
July 29, 200816 yr Author He didn't do any worse than Anderson who;s a similar age and someone you claim to be a brilliant player....
July 29, 200816 yr He didn't do any worse than Anderson who;s a similar age and someone you claim to be a brilliant player.... At the moment I'd genuinely have Babel over Anderson any day of the week. However I fully expect Anderson to up his game this coming season, which going by SAF's long record of success I see no reason why that will not happen (unfortunately) with Ryan Giggs heading towards retirement....

Liverpool's problem has always been Rafa's inability to see you need your strongest lineup playing as often as possible! Yeah I agree there. I dunno though, I sort of think this year Rafa might be more inclined to rotate less (might be wishful thinking on my behalf though) seeing as we're getting rid of a lot of the squad players. Babel really excites me too. He's still got a long way to go, but at times last year he looked so dangerous cutting in of his right foot from the left. Hopefully this season he'll come on a lot.
July 29, 200816 yr He didn't do any worse than Anderson who;s a similar age and someone you claim to be a brilliant player.... Thing is, Anderson will win WPOTY at somepoint in his career, bugs bunny, well, he's rubbish

Did you watch him against Liverpool? he owned Gerrard, or don't you watch football? it's like people who say 'he never scores blah blah' Anderson IS NOT a central midfielder, he's an attacking midfielder, watch his run against Arsenal for Porto y8U2V8YW_jg FABREGAS GETS OWNED!! At 16, Anderson scored the winning goal that took Gremio to the top flight of Brazilian football, the way you lot talk, you don't watch football, not when you rate Modric, Arshavin and Robbie Keane so highly oh, and 271rqzeHbgM oops... :) CqSKzdDRJZM
July 29, 200816 yr Yep i'll admit Anderson outplayed Gerrard at Old Trafford, but that was one day (and the whole team was outplayed that day) - even comparing Anderson and Gerrard at the moment is ludacris, it's like comparing Boumsong and Cannavaro! They're not even in the same league! He may well go on to becoming a great player, but he's some way to go yet, but i'm very much expecting players like him, Babel, Lucas, Bentender and Walcott to make big strides this season.
July 29, 200816 yr We have Dos Santos who if last night and in Spain is anything to go by is going to be an absolute megastar Bentley having a medical in the morning for us and Arshavin has flown into London for talks so looks like 2 new signings for us soon Edited July 29, 200816 yr by Tim Barnes

Gerrard's that good he's not taken you to a league something Cantona did EVERY year for United which he played in, bar his banned season that's the difference between a great player, and an over-average player

July 30, 200816 yr stop sucking his c**k if he was good, he wouldn't be at Spurs and if you were as good as Liverpool, Keane wouldn't of signed for them. How do you explain Berbatov then ? if Spurs are so c**p why did he sign for them and why are you, Barca, Milan after him 2 years later ? has he suddenly become a great player in the last 2 years ? if so that must be down to great Spurs coaching ;) which is it ? why is Berbs getting the attention now that he wasn't 2 years ago if you reckon his only option was a "c**p" team like us ? Keane signed for a simple reason - MONEY, we will not go over £65k a week in wages, Liverpool offered him 90k, if Hull had offered him £100k he would have gone there, if another company offered you a 50% pay rise tomorrow you know and I know you would quit Argos in a flash
July 30, 200816 yr And your dislike of Dos Santos is pure sour grapes, might this be the reason perhaps ;) http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Foo...n-Utd--Chelsea/ Dos Santos: I rejected United and Chelsea by Toby Davis, 30 June 2008 New Tottenham signing Giovani Dos Santos has revealed he turned down Manchester United and Chelsea to sign on the dotted line at White Hart Lane. The Mexican youngster was a summer signing from Barcelona in a deal which could rise to £8.6 million depending on appearances. The 19-year-old, who has been hailed as one of the brightest prospects in Europe, claimed he was not prepared to sit on the bench at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge. He told Mundo Deportivo: “My decision is purely sport. I wanted to play more and Tottenham gave me this opportunity. “I also had good offers from Chelsea, Manchester United and Ajax, but I loved Juande Ramos’ ideas. I am going to do great things with the Spurs." Dos Santos hopes to hit the ground running whent the new campaign kicks off in August and has backed himself to be a big hit in The Premier League. He added: "I want to be the star of The Premier League next season. That is my objective and the reason I have left Barcelona for Tottenham. "I believe that my style of play can be better in England than it is in Spain, but my first challenge will be to adapt to The Premier League. "The coach Juande Ramos has been key in this move. I spoke with him to know his intentions and I am very excited about this new adventure. "Juande has said that next season could be very big for Tottenham and that was a big attraction for me." The Mexican also confirmed that Spurs were keen on bringing his brother Jonathan to North London as part of the deal. He explained: “Yes (Tottenham wanted to sign my brother), but 'Jona' will stay in Barcelona . It will be a way to keep connected to the club, which has given me so much.”

As much as it was an enforced sale, 95% of clubs nowadays don't begrudge (sp?) players moving on if they want to further their carrers.

He has a chance to play for the club he loves AND play in the Champions League! I'm a United fan and I'd rather be playing for Liverpool as I'd have more of a chance of winning trophies than being at a club who only get an ocassional League Cup
July 30, 200816 yr wow Dos Santos ran circles round Norwich  it was a pre season friendly. Let's see how he copes in the Premier League first. I don't suppose Darren Bent is going to win the Golden Boot and World Striker of the Year is he? :P That report is right that he would have been a benchwarmer at the big 3.

The point is though that Fergie and Arnesen both recognise his TALENT otherwise they would not have bid for him The 2 biggest club sides in the world atm both being after Dos Santos even if he was going to sit on their bench most of the first season shows that the guy has mega talent
