Complete understatement to say United didn't deserve to win and were 'non-existant' We completely dominated the first half until the goal, could've been 3 or 4 up by the time we got into the second half. Chelsea dominated the second and it was pretty much an even playing field in extra time, swinging moreso towards Chelsea when Anelka came on and moreso towards United when Drog got the red. I really doubt I watched the same game to lots of you!

In the end I think it was one of those were both teams deserved to win though. John Terry must be feeling bad right now but it's Drogba who should be hurting the most (alas he won't, he'll still be sulking about how this could damage his dream move to Milan in the summer..).

Certainly proved everyone wrong who said it'd be a boring final too, it definitely lived up to the past few years standards without doubt. And what a fitting way to mark the 50th anniversary of Munich too.

Man Utd by far and away were the best side in the 1st half, Chelsea were by far and away the best side in the 2nd half. I thought over extra time Chelsea were the better team as well. To be fair to Man Utd, they should have killed the game off in the 1st half, but then Chelsea should have done the same in the 2nd. Was a good game, but I thought Chelsea deserved to win it on the balance of play.

Drogba got exactly what he desevred and so did Ronaldo. I knew he was gonna miss and I was so glad when he did. He seemed far too confident when taking the penalty imo. I've never been a fan of Chelsea, and I agree with what TIP's saying about Frank Lampard too. I hate the guy, but I feel so much for him tonight. You could see what getting the goal, and scoring his penalty meant to him and it was a shame that he couldn't win the CL as a fitting tribute for his mum, but at the same time Man Utd winning is a fitting tribute to the Munich Air Disaster.

According to some John Terry spat at Tevez, if this is so then the Karma was short lived.

Chelsea played better on the night but the behavior let them down. If Drogba hadn't swiped out then he wouldn't of been sent off and would of taken a penalty. Things might of turned out quite different in such a situation.

Our lot went ABSOLUTLEY BALLISTIC on Anelka's miss, and rightly so

Overall i reckon we deserved to win, a great match where we both had the better in parts, Chelsea are right cheatings bast*rds also -_- Drogba deserved to go NO ARGUMENT.

It was clear that Anelka didn't want to take a penalty, he is a striker and wasn't in the first five. Didn't surprise me that he missed.

Aye, true. What was with Terry though? His penalty was beyond $h!t? And tbh right, im not being disrespectful or anything but the media and Lampard need to stop playing on his dead mother. I mean sure, i felt sorry for him when he scored against Liverpool and he cried for his mum, but he needs to move on in terms of football sooner or later and he's just playing on it for sympathy.

I think it was case of seperating the men from the boys when Terry took a penalty. Why weren't Kaoul. or Anelka higher up the order? The nerves probably got to them. Terry was the captain, so he had to take responsibility. Was a poor penalty, but he did slip. I don't think Lampard is playing on sympathy either, but i'm one of his biggest critics and even I have to hold my hand up and say well done to him. His mum will have been through his football career every step of the way since he was a kid, and for him to help Chelsea to win the Champions League would have been a fitting tribute to her.

Exactly! And the thing is that when it comes down to penalties it doesn't matter who 'deserves' it at all. Again I was impressed with Wes Brown tonight! And my respect for Fat Frank has gone up even more so now and I really felt sorry for him in the end.

For me though this game had absolutely everything, blood, sweat and tears! The amount of heart attacks they gave me tonight was the definition of why I'm such a huge football and for me this was BETTER than 99 and probably the best football match I've ever watched! I even wore my old Beckham shirt I wore when I watched the 1999 final when I was 12 and it STILL fits me

Absolutely delighted and I just can't believe we're the European Champions AGAIN :o

One positive thing though for Chelsea fans/United haters: Anelka actually has something to sulk about now :P

You certainly didn't 'dominate' the first half, you were the better team but not like Chelsea in the second. The first 20 minutes were a complete dullfest which no one had a shot on goal. You then had a 15 minute period where you created three good chances, scoring one of them. After that, it was pretty much all Chelsea, Rooney and Ronaldo were out of the game.

Terry's penalty wasn't bad, he'd completely fooled the keeper and thanks to slipping he came within about two inches of winnng the game.

I also have to say huge credit to Avram Grant. It may have been Fergie that's won the Premiership and Champins League but for me, he's the manager of the season.

Last season Chelsea were runners up, desevedly well beaten by Man Utd. In the summer, Man Utd signed four players for over £15m each and sold only one first team player.

Chelsea signed four players on frees, and spent less than £20m on two players, an lost four players from their first team squad. The quality they brought into what last season proved to be a much inferior squad should've given Utd an even bigger advantage. And it did, Chelsea faltered at the start of the season and looked like they were already out of the running, especially when they replaced 'The Special One' with a Baron Von Greenback lookalike no one had ever heard of. A defeat in his first game at Old Trafford, not helped by dodgy refereeing* made it seem like they were definitely out of the title race.

However, against all odds, with often a very depleted squad, Cech, Terry, Carvalho, Lampard, Ballack & Drogba all having periods on the sidelines of four league games or more, as well as the loss of four players for the ACON, they kept going losing just the one of their last 31 league games and reaching the Carling Cup final, Champions League final and taking the league down to the last day.

If Mr Abramovich has any sense, Chelsea will play their opening game of the season with Grant still in charge.

*Chelsea may have blamed dodgy refereeing and to be fair the reality was it was so bad they should've had a different man sent off and the Utd penalty for a different incidnt.

Still have to say Congrats to Man U they did have a amazing season

yet we still beat them.... twice

I would say we dominated. Granted the first 15 minutes was the typical break into the game that we expected but after that I don't recall Chelsea having more than 2 or 3 big chances if that, and that's including the free kicks. At the end of the game United came out on top with 58% possesion and we rarely had the ball in the second half, especially between 60-80 minutes which says a lot for the first half. Like I said we could've had numerous goals in the first half and I lost count of the amount of times Ronaldo exploited Essien down the left. The second half Rooney was terrible and Ronaldo was pressed out of the game to Avram's credit but for the first half Ronaldo, Tevez, Hargreaves, Carrick and Scholes were absolutely solid. We certainly didn't have chance after chance but we let hardly anyone through (regardless of the freak incident for the goal) and had complete control of the midfield.

For once, i am in agreement with Cassidy :o

We totally outplayed them in the first half and shoulda really wrapped the game up there and then. The flukey goal gave thm the confidence to come out and totally play us back in the second half but we werent bothered :P UP THE REDS.

As a neutral, I have to say how can any sane person in their right mind think Man Utd had the better of the match and deserved to win on their performance on the night is defying logic.

Just look at the Match stats:

Shots at goal:

Manchester Utd 6 v 19 Chelsea

Blocked shots:

Manchester Utd 3 v 6 Chelsea

Corners:

Manchester Utd 5 v 8 Chelsea

Yes, Manchester Utd might have had slightly more territorial advantage & possession than Chelsea but they did a lot less with it than Chelsea. Whilst Chelsea hit the woodwork twice before penalties.

For the 4th year running in the ECL Final, the best side on the night ended up the losers.

at the end of the day statistics mean sod all

If you have 19 shots, and can't net more than one, then :P to you. Man Utd took their chance early on, without having to hammer shots (ala Ballack) from 30 yards out all the time

But the best side OVERALL emerged winners ;)

In what way? You dominated less of the game, you created less chances, had more players 'go missing', made less of your posession an had less corners. From a neutrals pont of view and of somone who hates both sides the only thing you bettered Chelsea on ws temperment and moaning, though both teams were a disgrace in comparison to the wondefully sporting game at Wembley on Saturday. To have three melee's comprising of almost every player takes two badly behaved teams, not one. I was surprised at just the one sending off tbh, Tevez, Terry, Ferdinand and Carvalho could've gone.

Last night was probably the best football I've ever seen Chelsea play, whereas Man Utd are capable of far, far better.

I dont mean Overall in the game, i mean overall in the competition and the season ;) You cant say Chelsea dominated us all season? And like someone said above, statistics mean nothing if you cant convert chances.
