May 25, 200817 yr Have they had any success outside of Germany though? You've clearly not been reading properly as the theory isn't about having an artist who's had national success, you need one who's had INTERnational success, like Dima Bilan. Or Lordi who won. The answer to my question would be not since 2003. Basically, they're has-beens... Edited May 25, 200817 yr by RabbitFurCoat
May 25, 200817 yr Here's the last Terry Wogan interview before he left Belgrade: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7419477.stm Preventing the failed semi-finalists from voting is an idea, but it's far from ideal. You can't have a contest for thw whole of Europe in which half the countries are ignored... Any more ideas Terry?
May 25, 200817 yr Preventing the semi-finalists will hardly make a difference as we have seen earlier.
May 25, 200817 yr Preventing the failed semi-finalists from voting is an idea, but it's far from ideal. You can't have a contest for thw whole of Europe in which half the countries are ignored... Any more ideas Terry? It's totally ideal. It'd be like allowing France, the Netherlands and Armenia to vote in a British General Election, for example. They've been eliminated, so should be eliminated from the voting too. Had the voting been done in the pre-2004 way, the whole contest would've gone down to the final vote - the very last one! Norway's 12, which went to Denmark, could've gone to Ukraine which would've meant a Ukrainian victory, as they would've gone just ahead of Russia, who got five off Norway or something. :(
May 25, 200817 yr And one more thing, allowing the big four countries to vote in the semi-final was a ridiculous idea too. That really wasn't needed...
May 26, 200817 yr I loved Germanys song its brilliant, but like everyone keeps saying they are awful LIVE!

May 26, 200817 yr At least the Times seem to acknowledge what most of us on here have realised. :manson: Tell you what. Let's just give it one more try, but with a decent song, eh? And if we still come bottom, then we'll ponder the only dignified option left.Pull out? The country where the “These Colours Don't Run” T-shirt was invented? Pah! Far from it!
May 26, 200817 yr Is it correct that the "Big 4" countries automatically reach the final? If that's the case, then no wonder the "Big 4" don't tend to do very well these days in the Final. I can well imagine the kind of posts that would appear on here (lol) if the UK had to pass the semis to qualify for the final and lets say 4 other countries gained automatic qualification to the final. I'd feel peaved for one and certainly would then not vote for a country which I felt had been given an unfair advantage. No, imho there should only ever be one country each year who automatically reach the final, and that's the previous years winner.
