What you studying at 6th Form?

Media, Psychology and English Language at A2 Level ^_^ I do really like all of my subjects actually

You're doing Journalism aren't you? :o That's what I'm applying for soon, I will have many questions for you soon

I'll look forward to it

And I didn't really "enjoy" any of my subjects at A Level, if i'm being brutally honest. They each had their moments, but usually I couldn't stand the constant deadlines and most of the classes were extremely dull :(

I took ICT at A-Level, and Eng Lang/Lit, Art and DT: Product Design at A2... passed all of them!

Wow! Well done :o I know how hard it was for me last year, I passed 4 subjects out of 5 - Physics was just too difficult for my English-trained brain to understand -_- I'm not a Mathsy person I'm afraid :P

AAAAAAAAAARGH! the evil M-word :arrr:

I despised Maths... couldn't get my head round it. Dropped it like a bag of $h!t after Yr 11, and never looked back

And by 'passed' by the way, I meant 'scraped'.. seriously  Still, it was enough to get me into uni ^_^

I'm sure since as you enjoy your subjects more than I did mine, you'll be able to focus a bit more and you'll end up passing easily. It always helps when you're interested in a subject, I find -_-

Well last year I got A-B-B-C, which I'll be absloutely ecstatic with if I get that this year too ^_^ As long as I get into a good uni I don't mind.

Where are you?

University of Sunderland - not exactly renowned for its physicians and philosophers, but if it gets me a decent-paying job, i'm past caring

Oh, I think that's one of my choices! :o The journalism course good there? It seems to be one of the only ones that does it really  And it's asking for fairly high grades too.

Really?!

Yes, the journalism course at Sunderland is recommended because it has some sort of official certification. And try not to worry so much about the grades - I got into the course even with 40 UCAS points less than it was asking for!

If you do come to Sunderland, you'll get 2 2-hour practical Journalism workshops where you get taught the basics and you'll also get the chance to go out and so some hands-on stuff. You'll also be required to take 4 hours of Shorthand a week (1 hour per session, 4 sessions a week), which suck. The current lecturers are a bit patronising, tbh. On top of that you're given a 1 hour lecture about the History Of The Press, which is where a lecturer will stand and speak and you have to take notes on the important points. To go with this, you'll also have an hour-long seminar, which is pretty much where everything you've been told in the Lecture is re-inforced, and it also allows for discussion and any questions you want answered.

You also have to take another module worth 20 credits and there's a 2-hour Study Skills lecture you have to attend once a week -_-

This may seem like a lot, but most timetables only cover 4 days of the week, and it's highly unlikely you'll ever have a full day of sessions, so you have plenty of free "study" time ^_^

Sunderland sucks :kink:

I phoned in sick again today -_-

So i'm just here

Hello Ryan!

I take it today has been another bad day :(

Thanks for the info Michael :D

Yeh, I checked so that I only apply for courses with a NCTJ certification - otherwise apparently it's pretty pointless doing one which isn't accredited  And Sunderland is one of about 20 unis in the whole country that does an accredited Journalism course, so they got filtered down pretty quickly :P
