I have a question for Michael btw. I take it if you're doing a Journalism course you're hoping to go into journalism as a career? I'm thinking of doing a English Language & Journalism joint honours, do you know if I can get into journalism with this degree - instead of a straightforward Journalism one?

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think you can unless it's NCTJ accredited

Also, if you want to take up journalism, most editors require you to be able to write at least 100 WPM in shorthand, so you'd have to take up that as well

Well yes, I checked and it is NCTJ accredited. Though I think I'll double-check first :P

I can worry about taking up shorthand once I get to uni though can't I? There's nothing I can do about it right now?

From the NCTJ website, just an example:

University of Portsmouth

· BA Journalism (combined honours)

University of Salford

· BA Journalism (combined honours)

These courses are both accredited, so it looks like I can ^_^

Yeah, you'll have to wait until you get to uni to take shorthand, although you can leave it right up until you actually have your degree to take it, if you want all the time to focus on getting your degree ^_^

Yep, shouldn't be a problem ^_^
