May 28, 200817 yr Livin Joy reached number one with the second biggest selling single of the week! Recent changes in chart rules had limited the amount of formats (to 3) that could count towards a singles position. The 12" version of Some Might Say was released a week after the other versions and as it was the 4th format it was given its own chart position (#71). Had its sales been amalgamated with the 3 other formats Oasis would have remained at #1 by about 500 copies. This was also the week that an industry / record dealers agreement to not sell singles before the Monday (in return for stores getting their stock earlier) took effect. From this week on, until 2005, most songs that reached #1 would enter the chart at the top. As for the chart, well 1995 is one of my favourite years and I like this chart too. My favourite song is Dreamer by Livin' Joy, it is, er, joyous! Worst song, it's between Bryan Adams and Jessie by Joshua Kadison. To compound the sheer horror of the last song, it was heavily advertised on my local radio station prior to charting. The ad featured two Scouse girls talking about the song coming on the radio. Sick bucket time...
May 28, 200817 yr 'Dreamer' is indeed a stone-cold classic that always fills a floor. 1995 was a wicked year all round. God bless the mid 90s!
May 28, 200817 yr 6 Take That - Back For Good .... ok i guess Blood and Sand Rob - that's high praise indeed from you!  Norma
May 28, 200817 yr Apart from Bjork, Billie Ray Martin, Marc Almond and Take That's best single... that's a deeply shoddy chart.
May 28, 200817 yr Author Blood and Sand Rob - that's high praise indeed from you!  Norma oh i dunno... ive always considered take that to produce quality pop, but not to be the best live act! :P
May 28, 200817 yr oh i dunno... ive always considered take that to produce quality pop, but not to be the best live act! :P I actually like it the other way round. They're better live than on record. Norma
