Chart Commentary
At last! My chart has returned! At last! the record for the most weeks spent at number one (consecutive and non-consecutive) has been broken! And at last Mystery Jets have a suitable successor to their single of the year. 'Free Things For Poor People' is the brilliant follow-up to the criminally overlooked 'Make Mistakes' and sees Infadels score their first number one on their second attempt. As a side note, Infadels are now the 11th different artist to feature at no.1. That's a run that carries from August last year, when Stereophonics went to no.1 with 'It Means Nothing'! Elsewhere inside the top 5, MGMT follow-up their spring smash 'Time To Pretend' with the 'not quite as good but still alright' 'Electric Feel' (i'm still annoyed they havent released 'Kids' yet though) and Last Shadow Puppets have chosen 'Standing Next To Me' as the second release from 'Age Of The Understatement', following up from the title track which went straight in at number one 12 weeks ago. At number 4 this week is Coldplay's second ever entry in my chart. 'Violet Hill' is a very good song and not long ago peaked at no.2. With it being download-only however, it means Coldplay still havent had a fully-released track in the top ten ('Hardest Part' was their last TOTB single, reaching the top 5 back in spring 2006 - it was download only as well). Outside the top 5, the theme of 'follow-ups' continue with Black Kids and We Are Scientists both releasing follow-ups to previously top 2 hits. They both experience small rises this week. Guillemots follow-up to 'Get Over It' is sadly on its way out of the chart, along with Futureheads and Foals who both charted with..yep, you guessed it... follow ups

Commentary
There could only be one album at no.1 this week, as it's completely dominated plays since it was bought. 'Twenty One' is undoubtedly one of the strongest albums i'll hear this year, and is arguably one of the best i've bought. There isn't a bad track on it as such (though "hidden" track 'Twenty One' is a bit of a duffer, but easily skipped), and there are so many potential singles it's hard for me to say 'Two Doors Down' is the best song on it. The 2nd most played album is also probably the 2nd best album of the year thus far, and again 'Hold On Now, Youngster...' doesn't have any weak tracks. The third album in my chart however can only be described as a disappointment. 'Age Of The Understatement' while not a bad album, showed so much promise with tracks like 'Age Of The Understatement', 'Standing Next To Me' and 'My Mistakes Were Made For You', but in the end lets itself down by trying to be too clever for its own good. Hence its 4 stars rating, and why it's simply 'good' and not 'great'. Sadly, it won't be competing for album of the year. Foals and Young Knives however, do have an outside shot as both their albums are enjoyable (though sometimes dull/sloppy) and they feature at numbers 4 and 5 this week, respectively

I thought 'Make Mistakes' was good but yes, 'Free Things...' takes down its trousers and does a dirty great urination session all over it tbh
