June 3, 200817 yr hmm I'm sure it'll grow on me not a bad song but it's a bit annoying when they do that crowd singing part.
June 4, 200817 yr Lol the money Island were raking in from the singles, albums but most obv. the tours would of been incredible. They would of no way let McFly down without the boys wanting to leave on their own accord. I really can't see how the record company would make money from their singles and albums. Fair enough they chart high but isn't their total normally around 50-60K per single and 200K per album especially the latter half of their contract with Island? Now these are really low sales, the media (like the sun article i saw) only comment on how many #1s they've had, but considering the total sales of their #1 are equal to some top 15 peaks from other artist, isn't good. Put it this way, if this was Girls Aloud, then i'm sure everyone would be fretting that it would be the end of the band. And i thought that the record company doesn't make much money from tours - cos this is where the artists get their money. I guess what i'm trying to ask is How did Island make a profit from McFly in the latter half of their contract?
June 4, 200817 yr No way, they'd still get a decent amount from tours and dvd's and the singles and albums werent that bad. Im sure they'd rather have them than loose them.
June 4, 200817 yr Ok well end of year 2007 - top 200 singles 118 McFly The heart never lies 69790 168 McFly Baby's coming back 50750 Top 200 albums 2007 82 Greatest Hits - McFly 203,000 Top 250 singles 2006 88 Mcfly Star girl 86000 89 Mcfly Please, please/Don’t stop me now 85000 232 Mcfly Sorry's not good enough 28000 Top 250 albums 2006 111 Motion in the Ocean – McFly 170,000 With all of them, i don't think the totals are far off, apart from (i think) Sorry's not good enough because (i think) that came out a couple of weeks before the end of year, but its total will defently be less than 67,000 cos its not featured in the top 200 singles of 2007 with #200 selling 39,750. But i do have to say that these sales aren't brilliant and if we weren't talking about McFly and all the information you had were the sales and the knowledge that 3 of the singles were #1 and everything listed was top 5. Would you still be saying the sales look great in comparisment? To quote from Billie Piper's autobiography (you're down a million before a single is even released) and she goes on to say how the record company would only breakeven after 500,000 sales of an album. And this was 10 years ago - i have know idea what the figures would be like now - but i'm guessing you would still need to sell alot more records to breakeven, let alone make a profit then what McFly did for Island. And in general, i don't think music dvds sell that much do they? I think you could sell 5000 to have a #1 music dvd Edited June 4, 200817 yr by Knightr634

I think you could sell 5000 to have a #1 music dvd motion in the ocean has sold over 235,000 that total was before the extra edition release also the Greatest hits album re entered the charts this year and stayed in for about 2months so sales for that has gone up
June 24, 200817 yr McFly are giving away their new album Radio Active for free on July 20th in the Mail On Sunday. Then in September they'll release a ''deluxe edition'' in shops which will include 4 extra tracks, a DVD and a 32 page booklet. They hope the 3 million readers of the Mail On Sunday will like the album and buy tickets for their tour. The tickets go on sale on July 20th too.
June 24, 200817 yr Oh god, they really need to get new managment. DONT give the album away - all the die hard fans (3/4 of the people who actually buy their albums) will get it and only a few will buy the special version in September. Stupid, stupid idea.
June 24, 200817 yr its awful and forgettable like many of their previous tracks, not a departure at all. still singing in that fake american accents. will the children still buy this? their fanbase may have grown up or prefer the Jonas brothers instead. mcfly don't make money from singles and albums cause their sales are so low, their only option is to make money from touring. by getting their music out there to 3 million people they hope that translates into their tour selling out, i'm sure their new record company knows this and have agreed with them to take a cut so they will make money that way.
June 24, 200817 yr i'm sure their new record company knows this and have agreed with them to take a cut so they will make money that way. They own it, so the money goes to them.
June 24, 200817 yr ah that explains it then, they know they don't make money from music sales, its all about touring
June 24, 200817 yr Indeed, thats what i said before - im sure their old record company made loads from it too.

June 24, 200817 yr Shame that the British aren't proud and are embarrassed to have McFly as an English band.
June 24, 200817 yr Sum 41's drummer Steve Jocz is directing the video for this single. I'm disappointed in him. :(
