June 4, 200817 yr Well I like: Top 40 Hits of Early June 1975 5 10cc - I'm Not In Love 6 Gladys Knight & The Pips - The Way We Were 7 The Osmonds - The Proud One 12 Wings - Listen To What The Man Said 16 Ian Hunter - Once Bitten Twice Shy 25 Mud - Oh Boy 29 Minnie Riperton - Lovin' You 30 The Carpenters - Only Yesterday 34 Jackie Wilson - I Get The Sweetest Feeling 40 Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - The Night And I grudgingly like Tammy Wynette's Stand By Your Man ... but only because the song, performed by Elwood & Jake, was one of the stand-out moments from The Blues Brothers. June 7, 200817 yr the singles chart in June 1975 was pretty poor. There's very few songs in there that I actually like: Listen To What The Man Said - Wings Disco Stomp - Hamilton Bohannon (this was on Capital Gold earlier this evening) Walking In Rhythm - Blackbyrds The Night - Frankie Valli / Four Seasons I did buy Baby I Love You OK by Kenny back then but now I think it's a load of rubbish!
June 8, 200817 yr Author Top 20 albums w/e 14/06/75 TW LW WK TITLE/ARTIST 01 01 11 The Best Of The Stylistics Stylistics BLOODY HELL!!! wtf was the music buying public thinking?... id be hard pushed to think of a WORSE act to be at #1.
June 8, 200817 yr I'm not quite sure why the UK was so keen on the Stylistics. Some of their records were absolutely dreadful - the one in the chart this week in 1975, Sing Baby Sing, was atrocious. I can still remember cringing back then everytime it came on the radio. The follow up, Can't Give You Anything (But My Love) was probably even worse - and it reached #1. It appears the hits only dried up because their managers / songwriters / producers were imprisoned in 1977 and the group presumably just disbanded or something. I did like You Make Me Feel Brand New at the time though, the only one by them I ever liked, but I don't even like that now.
June 8, 200817 yr Kraftwerk -Autobahn... Pioneering stuff indeed.. Everything else is just awful from that list..... I absolutely detest the sub-text of that Tammy Wynette song... "Stand By Your Man", what even if he's a drunken, wife-beating piece of sh!t who cheats on you Tammy....?? The 70s was when Feminism started making its presence felt, a song like that set the female cause back.... Thank fukk Punk happened.....
June 8, 200817 yr he left a year ago after pete seaton threatend us with legal action, he claims copywright to the totp archives... Er, how can he claim copyright on summat from a PUBLIC website......?
