but only because the song, performed by Elwood & Jake, was one of the stand-out moments from The Blues Brothers.

Er, how can he claim copyright on summat from a PUBLIC website......?

that was my argument all along, tbh i think that mark had had enough. ive posted some of his totp threads by looking through the archives and pete never 'got' me...lol.. but i bet hes not been on since.

That is an awful chart. God we needed Punk so badly!

9 Status Quo - Roll Over Lay Down I like Quo from the 70s - thanks to my dad playing them all the time!

10 Kraftwerk - Autobahn This was groundbreaking and seems soooo out of place in this chart

11 Desmond Dekker - The Israelites I like this ska track

16 Ian Hunter - Once Bitten Twice Shy Great solo single from Mott the Hoople leader

27 Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - Mr Raffles (Man It Was Mean) I have a bit of a soft spot for the Rebel

34 Jackie Wilson - I Get The Sweetest Feeling Class song from a class singer

So I like 6 songs from 40 and 2 of those were re-issues!

BTW Where did the album chart come from?

I only have three of those albums - Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk and Simon & Garfunkel.

the album chart is the official Music Week / BMRB chart from back then...
the album chart is also technically a week out of date, until October 1979 Music Week used to carry the album chart compiled the previous week. The album chart was compiled the day after the singles chart but back then it was too late for publication for the current issue of Music Week (the singles chart was compiled on a Tuesday morning after which Music Week would go to press, the album chart was then compiled for a Wednesday lunchtime but then dated for 10 days later). Had the chart been "up to date" as it now is, the top 2 would be the same with Venus And Mars by Wings a new entry at #3...

you did, you threatend bj with legal action if mark continued to publish totp play listings.

well i did try to explain to deaf ears after that i had got some things a bit wrong.

ill repeat what i said afterwards (although i have been under stress as my other half is unwell)

I hold copyright of the book and the type of book it is and its layout information, but the rest is of course held by the BBC

i am sorry that it upset a few people at the time, i wasnt well at the time either, and i did get muddled

and got my facts a bit wrong and again im sorry

when i began to work on the book in the mid 90's the whole "work" was not in the public domain ie Internet,

and i believe since the book was published the BBC has pulled the databases offline because the book was out.

what i should have said at the time was to carry on with your listings but to be careful as it falls within the BBC's copyright.

sorry
