June 14, 200817 yr Do we need to listen to the ALL again if we've already listened to them??? I've listened to most now and am confused...or if we've listend to them all...should we just watch the re-cap video as a memory spark???
June 14, 200817 yr Author Urgh, four days AGAIN?! :( I did advise people to listen to the songs as people confirm them so it might be easier to vote. If you did then you might be able to vote by just listening to the recap to refresh you of the songs. I originally wanted to leave voting open for a longer period of time, but with the need of a semi-final and people wanting the final to be the 22nd it's the way it had to go. At least with two semi-finals you should only have to listen to 19 songs over the four days. If it's alright, I could try and make a .rar file of all the songs in your semi-final (when I've randomly selected them) and send you a rapidshare link if it's Youtube and not amount of spare time that's the problem. I ripped the audio off all the videos already so I could make my recap so it wouldn't be a problem. Then when it's the final I could send you the songs that qualified from the other semi-final and my song. (possibly Ashton's too if they automatically qualify) If your computer doesn't have a whole lot of memory I'm not sure how to get around it though.

June 14, 200817 yr I know you can but it still takes time. To form a proper opinion on so many songs in such a short space of time with onlya youtube vid is fairly hard, and I know you can listen to songs before the contest takes place but you'd still need to listen to them all again to remind yourselves of them. I also think it's better to do it in one o as well rather than stages,it's harder to compare if you're listening to everything at different times. I also can't be arsed with national finals and people swapping songs/entrants. Atleast I'm at home so won't have to pull out due to a $h!t internet connection again. I just don't understand how so many people can form an opinion is such a short space of time especially when most people have job and/or school...

I've listened to most now and am confused...or if we've listend to them all...should we just watch the re-cap video as a memory spark??? It depends on how much of a chance you want to give the songs I guess. I'd advise you to wait until the semi-final groups are decided and listen to the other songs in your group again. If you've already listened to them you could use the recap video when I make it, but you might want to listen to them again just in case they grow on you. (unless it's something you had heard before the contest)
June 14, 200817 yr I'm not sure about everyone else, but I'd find a .rar file of all of the songs in the final VERY useful :o Definitely! Having just a youtube vid is frustrating because you HAVE to be on or around your computer at the time. I've always thought it'd be much easier if people just uploaded their song on a yousendit/megaupload/etc link instead but I never suggested it because of this sites policy regarding that sort of thing! -_- Edited June 14, 200817 yr by RabbitFurCoat

We aren't allowed to post rapidshare links are we? Especially since most, if not all, of them are songs you can buy. I might have to find a way of compressing the songs too because they way I've done it means that all the songs would probably take up 270-280MB and each .rar file on rapidshare can be 100MB I think.
June 14, 200817 yr Semi-final voting opens today ^_^ Each semi is 20 songs, which should work out at about 70-90MBs, the final might go over but that could be split into two if need be. Just tell people to PM you for the RapidShare link :P

Do you know how I can compress songs without losing the quality?
June 14, 200817 yr At the moment the songs seem to be over 6MB each, which will be 120MB which is too much. Do you know how I can compress songs without losing the quality? Well, just putting them in a .rar file should compress them quite a bit  They're all in mp3 form etc.?
June 14, 200817 yr by the way, if anyone wants the high quality MP3 of Maria and Mira's Mine All Mine just PM me and I'll send it to you :D I'm aware that youtube vids are always of inferior quality sound wise...
June 14, 200817 yr You know on PerezHilton he has that little music embedder thing (which are HQ). What site does he use because that would be REALLY handy for this. Here's an example when he used it: http://perezhilton.com/2008-02-21-listen-t...ss-is-asstastic
June 14, 200817 yr Author Well, just putting them in a .rar file should compress them quite a bit  They're all in mp3 form etc.? Ah, I didn't try putting them in a .rar file yet because I don't know who will be in each semi-final yet.

One idea I do have which I think should be put into place next time is that when you confirm you post a video the way you usually do then as a second step to send an mp3 by PM through yousendit or whatever to whoever's running it in the 2-3 days before the contest. All the person who's running it has to do is copy the links into a word document and send a generic PM to all the entrants with the links in. It's then up to each person how they choose to judge the songs. This sort of method is used on other sites that I post on and I think it's much better, you do't have to be limited to one place, you can do far more things with all the songs and there's less of a disadvantage to those of us who work and go to school.
June 14, 200817 yr The problem with that one is that people will grow tired of having to download each one...I think a RapidShare link with all of the songs is MUCH better, but that it should be done in conjunction with the YouTube thing - not everyone will want to download all of the songs, whereas I'd be very happy to to keep a collection :D
June 14, 200817 yr Author Well with the program I use it's easy to get the audio from a Youtube video, it takes about 2 minutes at most per song. I can upload all of the songs in .rar files. Probably a file for each semi and then one (or two) for the final.
June 14, 200817 yr Author I've already been downloading them as people confirmed. So it doesn't seem to take that long. I just need to compress them now, I tried making a .rar file but it was still over 100MB.
