Seeing the old World Cups, there were a lot of Union Jacks there - even in 1990, but now it seems to be mostly the St. George's Cross, why is this?

Why would we even be using Union Jacks for the world cup ? We're supporting England not England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland.

It is a sign of growing English nationalism - well we are the only part of Britain that does not have it's own Parliament, while the taxes from English nationals are used to subsidise Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales. While English MPs cannot vote on Scottish, Northern Irish & Welsh affairs yet those three countries can vote on English affairs.

Radio 5 Live did a poll and it revealed that the Welsh, the Scots & the Northern Irish support for England at the World Cup compared to previous tournaments is at an all-time low.

Just 11% of Scots polled will be supporting England in the World Cup, which I find appalling.

I find it appalling as well, because the fact is they hate us, well most of them do. Everyone hates the english this is why people are surprised by teams that are classed not as good as England beat us. The reason?, well its because they'll give it that extra 10% to beat us and most countries owuld love to beat us in football because were a proud country of our football.

However we are just as bad as the Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh becuase we hate Australlia so much becuase to sum it up were jealous of them because their the biggiest country and they normally beat us at most sports apart from the 2005 Ashes B) .

Hopefully it's because after so many years the English fans have actually realised that the Union Jack isn't their country's flag! :P

Totally agree, in the past England fans used the Union jack as the their flag at all sports when it was England that was competing, and not the UK, eg World Cup,Commonwealth games etc.

I have no problem at all with England using their own flag, so they should.

The reason why so few Scotland,Wales & N Ireland don't support England is down to the arrogance of the English media, who whip up the poor England fans just before every tournament saying they have the best team since......for ever(well since 1966 anyway) and the other teams don't need to bother even turning up as England will win. Then when they don't they just can't believe it then blame everything from Rooney's foot to duff referees. It happens every time, just wait and see.

Agree completely -_- the BBC panel were awful last night, so biased towards England - it pisses me off and I'm English! I stick with ITV's coverage when I can anyway.

I prefer BBC's coverage as I find the presents a lot lot better, but IMO the ITV commentators are better.

There are also no adverts for the BBC which I really like as ita a pain in the a*se when there are adverts every 5 mins when its half time.

John Motson is a complete CUNT. ITVs commentry is better but the BBC are far better in the studio, they don't see it fitting to have two people pitchside. Whoever thought of that needs shooting!

God yeah what a random idea, there's no point in having people pitchside, but it's good at the end to get interviews and stuff I suppose.

I hate the people in the BBC studios too, apart from Gary Lineker. Alan Hansen is enough to make you want to turn over, and he's so biased towards England despite being Scottish...
