Posted June 9, 200817 yr the sequel to Narnia : Lion With and the Wardrobe. The trailer is bloody amazing, I'm really excited for this. anyone else looking forward to it?
June 10, 200817 yr Twas good, but definitely not as good as the first. While in the first the religious references were very subtle, they aren't very secretive about it here. Still, good movie. :o
June 10, 200817 yr "Prince Caspian" is probably the most overt in terms of religious overtones.... The film looks undeniably impressive, but itll hardly be subtle...
June 10, 200817 yr I was reading the newspaper yesterday, and it said that this will be the biggest premiere ever!
June 10, 200817 yr The second film and fourth Narnia book. The film looks totally different to how I imagined it from the trailer, so we will see what it is like.
June 11, 200817 yr Frankly, I don't understand why they've chosen to film the books out of sequence.... They've jumped two books and gone from "Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" to "Prince Caspian".... Weird.... It's bit like going from "Philosopher's Stone" to "Goblet of Fire"......

Well, I think its down to suitability for films. The Horse and His Boy (3rd book) is a totally seperate story, and would not translate into film very well, and the first book, The Magician's Nephew is relatively unknown as the first Narnia book (and was written after The Lion.... anyway!) - so that would not be viable as a first film as it not very well known. As stories go, Prince Caspian is the logical film follow up to The Lion... imo. I do hope they follow with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair though (the best books of the series imho).
June 11, 200817 yr But they have gone in order? The Magician's Nephew is a prequel, so it naturally wasn't included...just as The Hobbit wasn't included with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. If memory serves me correct, The Magician's Newphew was the second to last Narnia book published. Just as The Hobbit was published much much later. And Prince Caspian is the direct sequel to the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Written back to back and all. I suppose the Horse and His Boy would technically follow TLTWTW, but I doubt they'll end up even making a movie for it as it technically would be smack dab in the middle of TLTWTW. Would be a bit impractical to make a movie for it, no? Especially as it's, for the most part, completely new characters (besides Adult Lucy/Susan/Edmund). Dawn Treader follows Caspian, and then the Silver Chair follows Dawn Treader (as the Dawn Treader introduces Eustace), and then there's the Last Battle which is clearly the last.

I suppose the Horse and His Boy would technically follow The Wardrobe, but I doubt they'll end up even making a movie for it as it's completely different characters and whatnot. Dawn Dreader follows Caspian, and then the Silver Chair follows Dawn Treader (as the Dawn Treader introduces Eustace), and then there's the Last Battle which is clearly the last. Quite right - the order of writing does differ from CS Lewis' order and you have both correct above.
June 11, 200817 yr I didn't even realize you posted. Until just now as I was editing my post to make my thoughts a bit clearer. Whoops. Sorry about that. ;D Wasn't being annoying and repeating everything Jester said, promise. I presume that after Dawn Treader they'll make The Silver Chair and then end it with The Last Battle. Making a movie for the other two just wouldn't work, imo.

Its ok, its good to read that someone else knows a fair bit about the Chronicles too :P I am unsure if the Last Battle would make a decent film - its is the weakest of the books imo, and is very preachy (I know that was the intention, but I am not sure how it would translate into a film). But hell yeah for The Dawn Treader and Silver Chair for the next two films!
June 11, 200817 yr I easily agree with you. :o Tis the worst. But, I just read this on Wikipedia: Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media currently retain the option to make The Chronicles of Narnia: The Last Battle in the future. So, who knows. I used to be a huge Narnia fan when I was younger, but I have forgotten quite a lot about them since then. :( Still, I know a few things here and there. B) Like what they're each about in general.
June 25, 200817 yr This looks better than the first, I've seen the trailer and its looks very impressive. The Dawn Treader is the next movie which is scheduled for Xmas 2010
June 26, 200817 yr Just come back from seeing it and thoroughly enjoyed it (despite having drunk like a gallon of pepsi and needing the loo halfway through). I've never read the books so not sure how much it sticks the novel but I understood it all and loved it...though William 'Peter' Mosley cannot act for toffee I've decided :P
