Oh goodness, what shall I do? :drama:

I think I might just do most 12s, 10s etc because if a countries got through by a load of 1-4 points as opposed to one with fewer 12 and 10s I think the first one will do worse in the final because if they are getting by on the lower points now, it's likely that those points will disappear when we get to the final as there are a different group of popular songs to rate.

Hmm well I suppose that is fair enough.....

Still.....

Grrr I don't know I still think "more countries" way is better.

You'd better be revealing positions 14-20 tonight :P

OK, Sorry I was slightly wrong.

The fairest thing to do is abide by the Official Eurovision rules for a tie:

In the event of a tie for first place at the end of the evening, a count is made of the total number of countries who awarded any points at all to each of the tied countries; and the one who received points from the most other countries is declared the winner.

If the numbers are still tied, it is counted how many sets of maximum marks ("12 points") each country received. If there is still a tie, the numbers of 10-point scores awarded are compared—and then the numbers of 8-points, all the way down the list. In the extremely unlikely event of there then still being a tie for first place, the tied countries are jointly declared as the winners.

The same tie-break rule is used if there is a tie for the ninth place in the semi-final, or a tie in the final for the last automatic qualifying place for next year's final.

EDIT: actually I reckon the eurovision way is fairer seeing as we are copying it in every other way

Shame about Alex

Toss a coin. :magic:

Too Random.......

I think Adi has a point about the people with the 12's will do better in the final in the long run. As people in semi 1 might have votes for the songs in semi 2 when it comes to the final knocking them off thier top ten.

What time the results should start? I thought they were starting already some 20 mins ago...I should start watching 30 Days of Night in 30 mins so I guess I'll miss the show.

The thing about the official rules is what would you rather get through?

A country that gets 1 12 in the semi-final or one that got 12 1s? The one that got 1 12 is likely to get high points from that person in the final, but the one with all the 1s will probably be less successful because if they were 10th favourite with half of the songs, will they be likely to improve in the final?

Let's face it, if they've finished 13th out of 13 qualifiers, neither song is going to do that well in the final.

I would rather a song with 12 ones get through, because it means that 12 people have deemed it worthy of a top ten placing, as opposed to one.

Adi just choose whichever one you feel is right, because otherwise you'll just have people saying one thing and other people saying the other and we'll get nowhere.

But those 12 people would probably be unlikely to give it any votes in the final as it was bottom of their list.

Yeah I suppose as we're in such a dilemma we may as well go with the official ESC rules.

Do the current official way Adi. ^_^

The most unfair one is the one that tempts me the most...do only 12 qualifiers from semi 1 :( But let's follow ESC rules and have the most country votes

Yeah Aaron we're now getting bogged down too much with this I think.

You know which ones we all favour, you're the host, so the final decision lies with you.

Just pick one and let's get on with it!! :cheer:

Exactly! I'm sure no one will complain whichever you choose as I'm sure you will consider both arguements fairly. Since you have done all the hard work anyway it is only fair that you too get the final say over these issues. ;)
