Mart!n can't use Kelly Clarkson, and he couldn't use Ace of Base at the time of confirmation...however, given that it has been a week and Addy! had done nothing with regards to his NF without announcing a reason for this (e.g. a holiday or something), Kylienips can send Ace of Base if they confirm now...although for reasons of etiquette I would advise using Alanis Morissette instead :P

Under normal circumstances yes - but that could set a dangerous precedent of tactical NF participation which would in effect ensure that reservations last for the whole contest as there could be a possibility that they have to fall back on something else, and I'm unwilling to bump someone off an artist who did wait until they were free :P

 

Anyway, I've concluded that Mart!n can use Ace of Base if he confirms NOW, but if Addy! comes back he may have something to say about it...and Mart!n, you have another WEEK to find a new artist/song (if you choose to ditch the other two possible candidates from your NF) - that's more than enough time! :P

Technically that confirmation was void - but if he confirmed NOW it wouldn't be, if you get my drift. There's red tape for you :P

 

And Peter, given that Jack had actually done nothing wrong and obeyed the rules, it would be unfair to take away his artist when it could've all been solved if Mart!n had checked first that Ace of Base hadn't been reserved as you're supposed to :P

1. Addy! reserved the Ace Of Base earlier than anyone else in the TCT

2. Mart!n confirmed AOB in the actual CT

3. So according to the rules of TCT Martin can't use AOB

4. So he tries Kelly, but she's out as well because after Martin announced AOB as the winners Kelly was free!!!

Well, for a start you're wrong about nobody saying anything earlier as this issue had been brought up a few times until we had to PM you :P And Jack waited until you had confirmed you weren't using Kelly Clarkson until he confirmed her, so he's in the right here.

 

And yes, as I've said twice now, Mart!n can use Ace of Base if he confirms NOW thanks to the one-week reservation rule ^_^

But Mart!n confirmed an artist he couldn't use at the time, so that kind of nullifies his choice and he would have resorted to Kelly. You can't really say Jack could use Kelly because Mart!n chose Ace Of Base when Mart!n wasn't allowed to use them at the time. That screws Mart!n out of both artists it's like "you can't use artist B because you picked artist A. Oh and by the way you can't use artist A because someone else is using them. Now you can't use artist A or B."

 

Anyway this is irrelevant because Mart!n CAN use Ace Of Base anyway.

Exactly, I don't see the fuss over the two artists in question. I'm not that fond of either artist.

this contest is getting far too hard to understand sometimes :lol: just pick an artist to represent your country in the official confirmation thread, if someone gets there before you then tough luck...yes Addy expressed an interest to use Ace Of Base, but as Mart!n confirmed it first, Addy still has another 9 potential acts left from his reserve list...if Addy was so certain that he wanted to use Ace Of Base, he should have exclusively confirmed them straight away to ensure that nobody else used them

 

this is why I wish people would steer clear of the big name acts sometimes...the last 4 acts I've sent, few people have probably heard of, let alone consider using them for this contest, and to be honest, if someone chose to undercut me and use the act I was considering sending, there are trillions of songs in the world :lol: it would take 5 minutes max to think of another song you could send, just look on the back of a Now compilation if you're tight for time, and voila, 40+ possibilites of songs without even thinking about anything!

 

and as for the temporary confirmation thread, I was asked to post that to collect our thoughts in one place...we don't all have time to go trudging through 42 countries own national final threads. but as I mentioned somewhere else, 'the green room' is somewhere where I suppose most people look so from now on, post everything in there, and no more temporary confirmation threads for future contests...
