Is it a good idea to make something like BJSC(1-10) summary voting :unsure: When BJSC10 is over we can make the new show by voting for songs among all the contestants of BJSC, or countries may choose only 1 song that took part in the contest. So it'd have been the summary contest of the decade :cheer:

I still think it would be good to at least on one contest try a stipulation for example non-top 10 singles or b-sides. That would cut the bigger songs doing better.

yes, it's one of the variants, and another one is to let all the songs participate, but it'll be a huge list :heehee:

I don't think having all of the songs participating would be much good.....it will have reached well over 300 songs by then.

 

A selection of the 15-20 best maybe, like "Congratulations" was for Eurovision, might be a good idea.

I think a selection of the best songs from each country would be a good idea, but it would be an independent contest - we'd still have BJSC 11 on at roughly the same time :P

 

And I HATE the stipulation idea, I would much rather a rule of no top 5s etc.! It's been thrown around, but 'ballad' themes etc. really don't sound like the way to go.

Couldn't we do it at a separate time to the BJSC11? I know countries like FSR Rontvia, Mdice, Bhangra, Kopecka etc. will have heard all of the songs so they wont take as long to judge songs. (assuming that's what we're doing) But I'm still a relative newbie and have 5 contests of songs that I'm not familiar with. This would only take a week or two, a week to sign up and however long to vote.

 

Another thing - could any countries enter this? There are countries like Camtoro and Dulpaen that haven't done too well in this contest, so would that mean they can't enter because they haven't had much success? or would it be like a normal contest with everyone sending their best song that they've sent in the past. (except FSR Rontvia might not want to send "Love Song" since it's been huge since first sending it)

I think if it were to be a celebration of the last 10 Contests, then surely it would be between the most successful songs. If that means some countries having 2 songs and some countries not having any then would that not be better if it reflects the best of the best from the last ten contests?

if it was a 'vote for the best winners' contest, then fine I'd send Love Song but I think things change...I think some people would have to vote differently for a start. Those people that vote for the songs they feel deserve the most points (as opposed to perhaps a big hit that they actually like the most) would have to change their voting style, as Love Song and I Kissed A Girl would definitely suffer as they are now/will be big hits, bearing in mind that this contest would be in about 3 months time if it was after BJSC10

Fair point...it would probably be halfway between contests then ^_^ I think the most successful songs (probably the 30 most successful, with maybe a couple of revisions) will probably be decided closer to the time as opposed to people confirming their entries etc., and there will probably be more than one entry per country, but limited to three entries per country at the max to shake it up a little and stop domination :P

It would be another stab at my quickly dying enthusiasm for this edition :(

I like this idea, but I don't think it should be only for the winners, it should be for each country to send thier countries favourite entry.

 

Although I don't know how you'd lessen the advantage songs that have already won and would probabl win it again in the anniversary.
