Posted July 2, 200817 yr A big screen adaptation of US sitcom Friends is reportedly being lined up for release within the next 18 months. According to the Daily Mail, the spinoff has been inspired by the success of the Sex And The City movie. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow are all apparently keen to reprise their roles in the film. "The box office success of Sex And The City has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right," said a source. "Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions." The insider added: "What's held back a Friends movie so far is that people worried that Jennifer had simply become too famous to play Rachel again. "But the truth is that Jennifer is finally willing to do it, and she'd love to work with that whole team of actors and producers again." Friends aired its final episode on NBC in 2004. DIGITALSPY I havent seen the Sex and The City Movie so i cant say anything about that. I would love it if they made a Friends film but ONLY if the original cast was in it. Especially Janis and all the other re-occuring and regular cast. Without them in the film, it just wouldnt be the same and would fail completely.
July 2, 200817 yr I dont get why people are so excited about this. Friends is my favourite show of all time, you'll go far to find a bigger fan than me, but i seriously dont want a movie and here's why.... the last episode of friends wrapped up everything, all of the characters got the happy endings you wanted them too and it tied up everything.. i can just see a movie having the plot where they all fall out with their boyfriends and get back together, or they all fall out and make up or similar.. and people who didnt really watch the original show and wanna see the hype going to see the movie will wonder what all the fuss is about.. it ended nicely and a movie has no need. of course if one was made i would go and see it but still :P
July 2, 200817 yr Are you a Friends hater? GET OUT. I feel sick more becuase a Friends film would ruin Friends. How dare you defy my love of Friends.
July 3, 200817 yr Are you a Friends hater? GET OUT. Whether a fan or a "hater", everyone has a right to express an opinion.... This aint a "Friends Love-In" forum, this is a FILM Forum for discussion about FILM, whether those discussions are in favour or against a particular film.... I myself utterly detested "Friends" - pathetic American garbage of the worst sort... I'm sick at the thought of a "Friends" film for totally different reasons to Chris... We all know the reason why a "Friends" film is in the pipeline, about half the actors cant seem to get any decent acting gigs..... Oh, and by the way, I MOD this Forum, so go on, tell me to "get out" James, I DARE YOU....... :P
July 3, 200817 yr I agree with James - I loved Friends and still do watch it on DVD from time to time but a film would ruin it I reckon. What storylines could they possibly do? None that would be worth seeing and in the long run I think it would just taint the massive success of Friends. Would the film be huge? Sure it would. Would the 6 stars make a lot of money from it? Damn straight they would. Would it be a quality film worth the price of a cinema ticket? Not really, no.
July 3, 200817 yr Author Im sort of starting to agree with everyone about the series being wrapped up nicely and that a film might just ruin everything. Tbh, if they were to come back, i would rather they done like a one hour special instead of a whole feature length film.

July 3, 200817 yr I've never been a fan of 'Freinds' never got the fascination although I know alot of people who will buzz over the news of this. I remember watching it in Media and the teacher asking "who loves friends?" with every single person in the class putting their hands up except me, and the teacher replying "how could you not like friends" eee... It's alright I supose..
July 3, 200817 yr I said the same thing earlier on to a mate today when he told me there was a friends film. Cool idea, but WHAT would it be about?
July 4, 200817 yr Also Joey's stroryline has gone to $h!t. I think I managed to watch about half an episode of that once..... Joey was always the slightly less annoying one in my eyes, so I thought "meh, okay, without the rest of the irritating gimps, this might be watchable....", I was wrong... Utter PISH, if anything, even more irritating than "Friends"...... If someone were to start talking about doing a "Frasier" film, now THAT would be of interest to me.....
July 4, 200817 yr the teacher replying "how could you not like friends" eee... It's alright I supose.. Jeez, what kind of school did you go to....? I think for a teacher to ask a question like that is a bit wrong tbh, not even sure what it has to do with education anyway, unless it was a Media Studies class... You should've replied "Cos it's utter sh!t Miss..."

July 4, 200817 yr she also had the cheek to say that Keeping Up Apperances and Fawlty Towers are c**p when I chose them both for one of my projects haha! Riiiiiiiighhht... Okay, "Fawltey Towers" is c**p, "Friends" is good...... Don't reckon your teacher's all that qualified to lecture on comedy tbh..... You could do an entire essay on the character of Basil alone.... Same goes for Hyacinth from Keeping Up Appearances..... If your teacher doesn't see the possibilities for discussion in the characters of Basil and Hyacinth, well, she aint that good a Media Studies teacher in my book..... Just out of interest, what was the conclusion she came to about Pheobe.....?
